@Jonathan Moll: From Sprint's press release: "The Palm Pre phone will be available from Sprint on June 6 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year service agreement on an Everything Data plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan."
@OMG! Ponies!: Agreed. You just can't get all of the feel of the design just looking at a CGI rendering. In studio we did lots of models for vehicles and the sort that we had to craft ourselves. While I would've enjoyed doing 3D modeling, having your idea exist physically is far more satisfying.
@TheWerewolf: Art projects are often very time consuming, and if an artist has lots of free time, what better way to spend that time than on more art projects.
$500 for a battery and $150 for a car charger what are these people smoking? I'm sure they will sell some. I work in the field with computers and we use car batteries.
Although since its targeted at Mac users who often seem to be unaware that there are other options for most of their problems. I'm sure they'll sell some.
And yes I own a mac but I don't drink the kool aid.
@sea_alex: In your opinion, which is the best external power supply to tote around with a laptop? I don't think I can fit a car battery in my computer bag :P
@ripfire: My interest's in the external battery pack, not the charger. I found a 130Wh example that runs for $300 though. These things are definitely not cheap, no matter where you look.
my dad was told he was now considered a VIP customer or something like that. he was given a $270 credit for a new phone every year. has anyone else heard of that? i wanna make sure he isn't gettin the shaft here.
I like sprint over every other carrier so this sucks for me. Granted there customer service is a bitch but i have horrible signal were i live for AT@T Verizon and T Mobile but have full bars for sprint. Anyway i don't want this to continue.
@ZetaCrossfire: Yeah, I think that makes two of us who actually like sprint.
There's a lot of unfounded and misplaced hate for this company, and Hesse has turned it around pretty well. I hope the Pre gives them the momentum they need to stay afloat.
Everyone is just upset because Apple happened to accomplish what most phone manufacturers only comprehend in their wet dreams; make an evolutionary device that comes with most everything you require in order for the device to funktion like it should have to begin with.
i.e.- "Golly, I just adore my new Blackberry Bold! ..... Wait.... I have to buy a memory card to throw media on it? ....huh.... I have to download images in order to render my HTML email properly? .... F*ck.. Why does my browser take so long to translate java?? !!! This pathetic rendering of yahoo is atrocious!! WHAT?!? NO SUPPORT FOR MACS?!?!?!?!

Clearly you didn't own the original iPhone for the first year or so of its life, if you did, you would have realized that it "came" with no function except a decent browser and pisspoor reception. Only after 2 years of constant update has the iphone gotten to where it is today.

Not to mention a kind of creepy attachment to a commercial product.
Kind of one step before tattooing an Apple logo on your arm.
Because.. you know... only Zune freaks do that...
Oh.. wait...
