Woz Cuts Apple Store Line to Get iPhone 3GS First

The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser.Apparently, if you are the most admired hero in the history of computing and an awesome dancer, you can cut through iPhone 3GS waiting lines like a lightsaber cuts through butter. The Woz did that today, according to a witness:

I just got my iPhone this morning at the Apple Store in Valley Fair (San Jose, CA) and Steve Wozniak was there.

I arrived at 3:50am and Mr. Woz was chopping it up with the manager at Apple. Then around 4:30am he politely asked everyone in line if he could be the 1st to get his iPhone at the store and everyone said yes.

New Palm OS, 18 Months Around Corner. Too Late?

As reported yeterday, Palm's upcoming OS is a ways out: 18 months to be specific. After Palm's unfulfilled tryst with the Foleo, engineers from that project have been moved to OS development. But all the same, engineers can't get the Linux-based project completed fast enough. So what do you think, readers? Will your heart still beat for Palm in 18 months?

If you've ever been waiting at Planned Parenthood, you'd know just how hard it is to strike up a conversation. With this waiting light, however, you can announce to the world that yes, you are in fact waiting and you would like someone to talk to to pass the time.

Detroit Metro Airport Gets a Cellphone Lane

Following in the steps of our somewhat-local airport in San Jose, Detroit's Mcnamara Terminal at the Metropolitan Airport is getting their own cellphone waiting lane. Just like cellphone waiting areas, this 50-car-length lane, dubbed Dingell Lane, will accommodate cars waiting to pick up arriving passengers. Park here first, wait for the dude a call, then drive to the terminal. It saves you gas and it lessens traffic for everyone else.

Perhaps it's just the way the airport's designed, but wouldn't a parking lot rather than a lane make more sense?

And yes, that's Dingell as in named after the still-living Representative John Dingell, (D-MI) — so you know, you can now make a ring-ding while parked on Dingell Lane. Hah, I slay me.
