Take the TLKR, it's Motorola's new line of walkie-talkies meant to convey a sense of style while you are calling in for airstrikes on the cootie patrol. The first version will be the T3, offering eight channels, 20 hours of battery life and up to a three-mile range. Where was this technology 15 years ago?

The luxury T5 will offer 121 channels, 16 hours of battery life and 3.7 mile range. Plus the T5 will feature hands-free functionality (which, though funny, could be useful in certain survival situations). Though no prices have been announced at the moment, the T3 and T5 will be released in October when the walkie-talkie army is set to overthrow cellphones and the internet for global communications domination. <![CDATA[Walkie Talkie Watches]]> Another Walkie Talkie Watch, but this time not quite so nerdy looking. These watches were worn by the Norwegian Olympic Team during the last Winter Olympics, which means they're decent enough for people who need things to work—whatever that means. There's eight channels with 38 sub-codes, which makes for 304 discrete discreet channels. The 3km (1.86 mile) range is better than that other set of walkie talkies, but these don't come cheap—$109 plus shipping for a pair.

<![CDATA[Motorola i870 Packs MP3 And Walkie-Talkie Power]]> 172176.jpg

The Motorola i870 from Nextel is out and is the first of it's kind. How? It's the first MP3-player phone with walkie-talkie capability. Now you can play your freestyle beats out loud and have your friends rap over the breakbeat. Word up. The phone also has some nice features like Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera and Transflash Memory Slot for storing all those illegal MP3s. You can also do video recording and playback if that's your thang. Motorola and Nextel are touting it as the best thing since sliced bread, phone-wise. Want it? Shell out $299 with a two-year agreement and you're in the game.

<![CDATA[Japan Folllows US With Push To Talk]]> Frankly, I'm stunned. Not to silence of course, but stunned all the same. Japan's biggest mobile operator has actually taken a cue from the US and announced a new line of push-to-talk cellphones. Of course, they're going to be 3G, high speed walkie-talkie phones, but still, we did it first! DoCoMo is talking about unveiling six of these phones in their winter line-up and both KDDI Corp and Vodaphone are also planning on coming out with similar phones later in the year. The service will cost five yen per call or 1000 yen monthly. And if you're really desperate for friends, for just 2000 yen a month, you can speak to 20 people at one time.
