    But how many people separate their power and signal cables by at least 12" like they are supposed to?

    In-wall for me. It's a bitch to put in, but worth it.

    I used to use a plastic channel like what you see in the picture above. I painted it the same color as the wall and while it was obvious, it looked professional.

    i hid my cables behind the wall, but it can be a pai. along with the normal vertical studs, which i anticipated, there was one mother of a horizontal one that was at least six inches thick. that took a while to get through. my advice would be to take a studfinder, place it about where you'd want the cables to enter from the television, then run it down the wall and if you don't find anything in the way, definitely go for it. if you do, go for it anyway. it looks so much better.

    @Scott Willson: Another trick would be to follow the power lines.

    @ripfire:

    'ceptin' than the audio/video-philes say you shouldn't parallel AC lines due to coupling to the 60Hz noise.

    "Ideally one should cross AC lines at 90 degree angles"

    Not always practical, I realize.

    @MikeHerbst: Maybe. I have HDMI and component run through it and haven't had any problems. Although I have speaker wires routed a different way.

    Funny you should ask this question. We're getting a tv installed right now and there are guys in my bedroom drilling into my closet.

    Say hello, installer guys.

    ... now get out of my bedroom.

    @McLucky: Yes, they do. It's slightly visible to smart people, but only dullards and idiots can't see it.

    @ravedown: why would you buy that? Premium cables are NO DIFFERENT from generic. But no one seems to know that.
