As soon as this happens, the Vulcans will show up and invite us to join the Federation of Planets. OR..aliens will destroy us. Either way, space ships are cool.

It may be worth mentioning that we know that space can expand faster than the speed of light, as it did immediately after the Big Bang, so there's reason to believe that fast-than-light movement of space time is possible.

@Freddie DeBoer: ok ... While I dont debate that faster than light movement of space time is possible; what I did find interesting was the quote: "optimized to manipulate the surrounding dark energy"

How the hell do you optimize the manipulation of a material that we don't know anything about, and half of academia is still skeptical of its existence??

@ripfire:I'll go ahead and be a douchebag just because I'm bored. This is all hypothetical, not theoretical. Theories are compared to experimental data to validate them. If that can't be done then it's a hypothesis.

    scientific method - n.

A scientific method consists of the collection of data through observation and experimentation, and the formulation and testing of hypotheses.

And maybe GLaDOS was right, and the laws of physics regarding the portals also applies to entering and exiting whatever hyperspace you enter.

Same rhetoric we got when the Hadron Collider was about to be powered up.

And ST broke the going to warp in a system protocol about as much as it ignored the Prime Directive.
