Halo Transformer on eBay: From Warthog to Master Chief

Never have I ever seen a Transformer this cool: a custom Master Chief Transformer on eBay that goes from being a Spartan soldier to—not just any old car—an actual Warthog LRV. ZOMG.

Up for auction is a custom built Transformer of Master Chief from the Halo series of games. A quick transformation turns him from the iconic Spartan soldier into a battle ready Warthog LRV . Stands 5 1/4" tall when transformed and comes with a variety of weapons including a Sniper Rifle, Spike Grenade, and Warthog turret. Built from a McFarlane Master Chief figure, an Actionclix Wartog and an Autobot Hound transformer, many hours of work have been put into this to make it a faithfull representation of both the vehicle and the character.

The auction ends on March 12, and is currently at $51 with 15 bids. Hmm, I think I found what I'm going to blow my cash on this month. [eBay via geekologie]

Top Gun 2008, the Movie (Without Cruise, Fortunately)

Not everything was about the stunning A-10 Warthog at last week's Top Gun 2008 competition, the largest R/C event in the world. 10,000 people watched the 120 invitation-only R/C airplanes competition—which included everything from from World War I Fokker fighters to WW2's Mustangs and Lightnings to Vietnam War's Phantoms, and plenty of civil aviation models. Here's the 1:5 scale A-10 Warthog remote control model in some video action at Top Gun 2008, in Lakeland, FL.—the biggest remote controlled airplane competition in the world. And to match it, a real A-10 appeared on the scene, taking off from a parallel runway. We interviewed Mike Selby, one of the model creators, and got all the technical details about this amazing $12,000 beast, with two jet turbines, three on-board microprocessors, 24 servos, a 1" OLED display in its cockpit and a fully-functional gatling gun. Full-Size Working Halo Warthog Ready to Annihilate Adoring Fans

Thanks to Peter Jackson, New Zealanders have all the fun. Not only do they get to experience epic Lord of the Rings sites as they are recreated in the countryside, but now they get to do donuts around their flocks of sheep with Halo Warthogs. Jackson's WETA workshop recently finished building an accurate, working Warthog (machine gun and all) for their upcoming Halo 3 shorts.
