I fail to understand why my comments fail to appear here. I asked an important question for me as I am legally blind. If it will speak the time and is a durable watch it might be worth it for me to purchase even though I do not have a blackberry. #inpulseblackberrywatch
@KyleW: From the article:
* 1.3" full colour organic light-emitting-diode (OLED) display
* Bluetooth® v2.0+EDR
* 150 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery
* Glass lens and full metal body
* 22mm interchangeable wrist band
* Vibrating motor
* Micro-USB port (for charging)
* Over-the-air firmware updates
* Dimensions: 51mm height x 38mm width x 12mm depth
None of those specs lead me to believe it will be able to "speak the time". Don't know for sure though obviously.
This is rather meh. For a gadget, it's quite limited. I mean for 150$, I would rather have a nicely crafted watch than a overly exerting gadget that tells me what's on my blackberry.
Logic being, I receive a text message or a e-mail, I do a magical motion, one that destroys the way of people are acting... I reach down in my pocket... I take my phone... And I look at it...
@Zerod Zunaro: If I was still doing a lot of face-to-face meetings, I would be all over this thing; however, since I rarely leave my desk anymore, it is not necessary. #inpulseblackberrywatch
I love the concept. However, I refuse to plug-in and charge my watch every few days. Needs more work on esthetics; make it look more like a regular watch, not a cheap plastic toy with a video screen. #blackberrywatch
Ok, as a paired device, supplemental to the Blackberry....this actually friggin' rocks. Granted, it will likely be way too expensive. And it will be just not-popular-enough to not come to other handsets *coughAndroidcough*....but the ability to get notifications and quickly read messages on the wrist is a.) incredibly handy, and 2.) seriously geeky. #blackberrywatch
This... can't succeed. People wear watches now for the style and attraction of wearing a nice watch... it's jewelry that also serves some function. This, however, is ugly, cheap looking, and looks like something more appropriate for a Power Ranger than an actual consumer. #blackberrywatch
@Brazell: Business tech tends to breed its own ugly sense of fashion. People sport Blackberry holsters and bluetooth headsets just so they can look like they're too important to be out of touch for even a second. #blackberrywatch
Sounds interesting, it would be a sneaky way for you to get your e-mail from the blackberry in your pocket just by looking at your wrist while acting like your paying attention to the boring meeting. #blackberrywatch
@Bertone77: I think that's exactly why something like this may actually succeed in business circles while it's failed to gain traction in geek circles.
