    three lethal weapons from 6th grade:

    1. make blow darts out of sewing pins. wrap thread at the end and cut for the feather. blow out of pen housings.

    2. using rulers as a fulcrum to emed pushpins into the ceiling.

    3. untwist paperclips into a hook and launch them via rubber bands.

    @Evangelion: I used to love rocket dock. Now that I have Win 7, I find that I don't ever use it anymore. Although it is a complete life saver on XP.

    I wonder if it was out of control, as most are suggesting, i.e. that it was leaking propellant. Wouldn't they have activated the self-destruct on the missile if it was actually out of control?

    Supposedly this was a test of a next generation ICBM that can avoid missile defense systems (interceptors, lasers, etc...), and supports mid-course maneuvering. Could it be that this is the mid-course maneuver? That it was a thruster, not a leak, causing the spiral flight path?

    @jepzilla: Could have been a thruster that stuck on, causing the spiral.

    In some cases it can be better to let a rocket land whole instead of blowing it up, in which shards of rocket would rain down over a large area.

    I developed a similar weapon for hunting the evil katydids that eat my wife's roses in the garden. I'm too slow to get 'em myself, but my mighty bamboo-skewer-firing crossbow is mighty effective.
    Strap on a cheap laser pointer, and you can play "Enemy at the Gates" to your heart's content.
