There are 2 problems with this design.

1) The suction fan needs power to operate, so it will fall off the wall if the battery runs out. I guess you could program it to head towards the bottom if the battery is low, but I can still imagine scenarios that involve robot window-washers falling off tall buildings.

2) How does it transition from window to window? Though they could just limit the use to buildings with continuous glass exteriors.

I've been waiting for something like this, but not for window cleaning. I need it (as I imagine most of America does) for cleaning the tile walls in my shower. Something like that, which people would make use of every day, would probably be a lot more appealing than a window washer. Someone give these MSU kids a bunch of money to commercialize this... and call me when I can buy it!

Am I the only one a little interested Emily? Besides her great cheekbones, hearing her say the word accelerometer sent a shiver thru me. I will openly admit that I'm superficial when it comes to brains. Smart chicks are hawt!

@Curves: I'm really not a stalker, seriously! But if you put info on the net, you should be prepared for it to be searched for eventually, and it looks like she meant for it to be found. And this is coming from me. I am sure somewhere there are some embarrassing screen caps from one of my cams. Doubly so if I was either a.)good looking and b.) if I was female, in that order. But I accept that fact, and any results from it.

@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy->★: Having suffered through stalkers (both real time and cyber) I can tell you its NO fun. I slapped a restraining order on the real time one, the cyber ones are harder to slow down. Sadly, the best way to handle an on line stalker is to give their info to another on line stalker and let them chase each other all over the net.

@Curves: That explains all those IM's I started getting! J/K, I had a stalker once. I will say after all was said and done, the messages she left on my voicemail were hilarious. "I'm not going to hurt you, just come out and talk to me" "If you don't come out, I'm just going to keep coming back day after day" "I see you", etc....

If these actually worked, I would SO want one, but since I have serious doubts as to its level of cleaning, I will stick to my ladder, soft cotton rags, squeegee and LOTS of glass cleaner.
