Known previously as the mysterious Nokia "Sea Ray," this leaked bit of mobile kit from Orange France is now apparently known as the Sun. The leak includes specs. Oh, the specs!
Hello Windows Phone owners! Yes, Windows Phone 7.5—that's the official name now, not Mango—is getting pushed out, starting like, now. But your phone might not get them today. Or this week. Or next week!
"Windows Phone Seven Point Five." It's somehow mind numbing and yet not totally unexpected that chunky string of syllables is how you say the name of the new Windows Phone. Mind numbing, because it's the antithesis of what Microsoft has ultimately built, and not totally unexpected, because we're still talking about…
So it begins. After rumors of a release coming as soon as this week, Microsoft has just about confirmed them. This Tuesday, AT&T customers with the HTC Surround, LG Quantum, and Samsung Focus will get a fresh Mango update.
We've all been waiting for some beautiful tiled Microsoft fruit salad, and a ripe new rumor says September 27th is AT&T Mango Day. According to WPCentral, citing internal emails,, AT&T customers will get Mango on the following handsets:
Mango, you sweet juicy OS update you. We can't wait to taste you. When are you going to come to Windows Phone? According to Microsoft, we can expect Mango to start rolling out "in the next week or two"
It looks like Microsoft's keeping its living-and-let-live stance as hackers actually give the aging HD2 some much-deserved love. XDA-Developers member backslashid posted the above video showing Mango Beta 1 running on the device. Microsoft pretty much said go for it!
It was a little bit eyebrow-raising when Microsoft made no mention of a front facing camera in Windows Phone Mango. Thankfully in Mango's Beta 2 Dev Tools, there's a button that'll toggle front and rear cameras. Welcome to the present!
Pleasant. That doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment, or a benchmark or like, impressive. But the truth is, most technology isn't pleasant. The new Windows Phone is. Very much so.
