    I'm almost in tears because we had to have a technician come out and install a PS/2 (I think?) mouse into our DOS machine 16 years ago. Good lord that was awful, and I believe he was there for at least an hour trying to set it up properly.

    But I do remember we used to have some kick ass games for it. I remember paying $50 for some game that today a 3 year old in India could make between bottle feedings.

    Yes, folks. That picture is an Apple II with a graphics card allowing it to run Windows. And the picture is from 1983.

    @OMG! Ponies!:

    It was a DOS card, it had an 8088 or 8086 CPU, video card, floppy controller, memory, etc. Essentially it was a full IBM PC XT on a card that you put into an Apple IIe.

    Everything with the Apple II series was incompatible with the IBM PC at that time, even the floppies.

    My dad was a UNIX salesman and I remember all versions of that POS operating system. I also remember windows 95 being huge. CompUSA had a banner covering one side of the store announcing it was available. 1 aisle with roughly 2000 copies and it sold out within the day.

    The photo is from the December 1983 issue of BYTE Magazine. It's an Apple II with a card installed to allow it to run Windows. The Macintosh had not yet been released.
