I've heard a lot of reports of 7 supporting some xp drivers and not supporting some vista drivers...

I stepped away during install, and returned to find the computer in hibernation/sleep/whatever.
Machine powered up again when I hit spacebar, but after ten minutes, nothing had come up on the screen despite ctrl-alt-deleting, and other attempts to wake it.
When I manually powered the machine down, then up again, the HDD was dead. I spent most of the weekend trying to troubleshoot it, but the Drive is dead, won't show in BIOS on either of my computers, one of which was so new, I had to assemble it to try the HDD in it...
How's that for incapacitated?

Was thinking about swapping the chipboard off the new one to see if I could recover the older one... but the data's not worth anything but sentimental value, so the risk of losing both drives, the fix not working, and two warranties being void seems too great.
