I had thought it might have been someone at Giz playing a joke on me, given that I'd been poking them in the ribs about the new star-approval system (You are breathing? You spelled your name right? Here's a star!). So, I wrote Jason at Giz and asked. He told me that my star "wasn't removed for any reason [he] can think of" and that, curiously, it looked to him like it was still in place. Go figure.
So, anyway, hang in there! This might just be one of those new commenting system growing pains.

Um...I can think of other ways to make you "feel like a man". Drop by my place tonight, say, around 8:00? Bring wine.

Not only do audio enthusiasts seek realistic, emotionally-engaging music playback, but many are also directly interested in the playback equipment itself in terms of the circuit design, build techniques/quality, and overall aesthetics. The Woo WES features stunning industrial design, is completely hand-built using the highest quality components available (such as mil-spec resistors and teflon-film caps), and is designed to last as long as you do. It's an example of 100% no-compromise engineering and construction, and is probably near the pinnacle of the best headphone amps in the world (The B-52 from Ray Samuels Audio could probably give the Woo a run for its money.)
This amp is appealing to audiophiles for many of the same reasons that a Rolex, Breitling, or DJR watch is appealing to watch collectors. Sure a $10 digital will accurately "tell time", BUT there is no comparison between the "experience" of wearing a cheap, plastic digital vs. something like a Breitling Navtimer.
