So, after looking at the website, it's a hand held scanner ? Have these things not been around for a long time ? I am sure I used one in the early 90s ( it was rubbish though, and mono ). I don't see why anyone would need one, there can't be many business documents written these days that aren't originally in a digital format, surely ?
That 'printstick' portable printer on their site looked more interesting. #docupenxseries
@RedEye: Yeah that printer looked handy, though paper stored rolled up like that tend to stay curved for a fair bit even after you unroll it, which could get annoying.
But probably a whole lot less annoying that having to lug around a laptop-sized printer all day. #docupenxseries
This gave me an idea that would make the Courier even better. A built in scanner feature so that if you get some sort of paper copy you can just put it on one of the screens and have it saved. #docupenxseries
@BergenCountyJC: Yeah, I guess they do include a 3 MP camera on the Courier but of course taking a picture might be a bit harder than just quickly scanning something. #docupenxseries
Another over-priced device that will become obsolete with paperless alternatives such as digital books, magazines, coupons ... list goes on. #docupenxseries
@Th12eat: That's pretty much true of any scanner. The point is that this one provides decent quality for something you can lug about, which can come in really handy.
Paperless sounds nice, but as I scan documents to send off, and have to read faxes, I fear paper will rule us for a while. #docupenxseries
@zaxwashere: I think it's strange that it even has 64GB to begin with. How many pages would one have to scan just to fill up several megabytes? #docupenxseries
@Kaiser-Machead: Checking the actual site it seems it is in fact only 64 megabyte, not gigabyte. Which obviously makes a whole lot more sense for a device like this. #docupenxseries
For something meant to be slick, sleek, and sexy, that tumor of a VGA port on the side ruins it.
And why, in a laptop so expensive, would you opt for an Atom over a Core 2 ULV? Is anybody really going to pay $1300 for a netbook? Better to drop another $100 or so into it and get a real computer.

@Moonshadow101: Word. At my coffee shop, I will regularly pummel loudtalkers and stroller moms ordering half-caff sugar-free vanilla-skim no-foam extra-hot three-shot lattes with my MBP 13.
@QuinbyLouse: Actually good call on that. It leads me to think it won't have anything more powerful than Atom since it won't be able to handle HD. Still hoping on ULV for this thing though.
to be fair, the MBA is much thinner as your approach the edge. As mentioned in the article, only the "ass" is that thick. juuuuuust the way it should be.
"very nice keyboard" she says, without even touching it. Doesn't look like the keys have a lot of travel though, and even if the battery lasts "all day and into the night" (hubba hubba) I doubt that I would want to be typing on it that long.

Awww.. It is the CueCat all grown up. How adorable.
Sounds like a potentially useful device. I might have to try try this out, once it reaches the under a hundred bucks price point. #docupenxseries

it's only 600 DPI, so nothing high-def anyways... #docupenxseries
