    @KurganG: heh, "you're wrong" would have been fine for me . I associate relatively lax male clothing standards with North Americans, the Australians and to a lesser extent the Brits, and of these I associate Americans with Gizmodo posters, so I assumed he was American. My opinion had no factual basis, however.

    I know there are a few dating sims that get to the erotic scenes, and (due to Japanese conventions), the scene was censored. The way they chose to censor it, however, involved complete removal of penises in the entire game. It was horrifying.

    @Twanzio: I was just trying to stop the ALL women bashing, we arent ALL anything. This is not a new phenom to our generation either. Since Adam and Eve, men and women have had their differences, and personally, I wouldnt change it. Viva La Difference. :D

    I think it's more that after you put enough hours into these games, your save data is like an extension of yourself - if you evaluated it in terms of what you make per hour working, then even at minimum wage, this would be a tremendous loss, even not counting the emotional investment in it.

    So the girl sees it as a toy the guy spends too much time on her and smashes it. The guy sees it as a direct personal attack, like if she had poisoned or stabbed him.

    Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk of getting close to someone that unhinged. If a guy plays games and ignores his girlfriend she's well within her rights to leave. If she'd make a big deal about staging the destruction of one of your main hobbies... she's crazy. Get out of the house. Run for it. You don't want to be around someone that irrational.

    The console is not a penis. Even Freud (is attributed to have?) said "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." The world is not made up of penis analogs.

    seriously. i talk to girls about prospective dudes all the time and their reasons for not going for them are almost always Seinfeldian in nature. oh ho ho but once they are with some guy, he can devolve into King Douchebag Of The World and they won't leave, they'll just complain and snipe and generally lower themselves to his level - and beyond.

    @nutbastard: It's also funny how us guys can be the polar opposite. All it takes is enough alcohol for almost any woman to be the perfect woman (for that night anyway).

    ... and I think Tiger Woods has illustrated how we can tend towards wandering from the good ones (I don't know how she is as a person, but she's good on the eyes). Not to say that most guys are like my example or that most women are like yours, but there are certainly enough illustrations of both - especially on the hot end of the female spectrum and the rich/powerful end of the male spectrum.

    i know guys who get away with cheating on a regular basis. and by get away, i mean they aren't even sly about it, and get found out fairly quickly. and yet the woman stays.

    i had to walk out on a long term relationship with a woman who i was contemplating marrying when i found out about some.... indiscretions. it was a horrible event, and a shitty time thereafter, but one thing was clear - despite everything, all the time and effort, the commitment, the love, there was no question that that was it, over and done with. i dont think men tolerate betrayal of trust as well as women do.

    ...which makes the playing field even less unfair for those guys among us who fall in love too easily. thankfully a string of untrustworthy women has burned that character trait right out of my soul. im now properly converted to being a "normal guy" - i no longer feel a desire for commitment, i'm completely cynical regarding, and untrusting of, women, and i find it difficult to make deep connections with females. i refrain from discussing my feelings by default, and i'm more than somewhat apathetic about the feelings of the other person.

    seems to me that if you're a nice, decent, respectful guy, don't worry - soon enough you'll be screwed over enough times that you'll change into what every girl complains about - a distant, detached, closed, untrusting cynic. which will actually get you laid more often.

    wanna know why there's no more nice guys out there, ladies? because your contemporaries ruined us.

    @nutbastard: I feel like I've just revisited some personal conversations over the past few months. I wouldn't hesitate to agree that woman are more tolerant to cheating, or doing the seeing-each-other-and-getting-back-together routine. Sad that most guys don't reciprocate that same tolerance. Oh well.

    This was so awesome... poor nice, decent, respectful guys disowning their feelings to avoid feeling hurt. For the next few years or so you've probably got yourself a genuine a-hole that couldn't find his feelings if you handed them to him.

    Way to go, ladies... I'm building a fort under my desk in my office right now - NO GIRLS ALLOWED!

    @valkilmerisawful: @nutbastard: I'm thinking that a lot of the problem is that guys tend to focus on a girl's looks when falling in love with her (not saying you guys do, but most of my guy friends do). Sadly, most of the women who will cheat are the smoking hot ones. And they are hands-down the ones that my guy friends fall for and get burned on.

    Go after a cute nerdy girl. She's cute (so she's nice to look at) but she's not trying as hard to attract men as a "hot girl" that'll be hit on constantly and tempted to cheat. And a cute nerdy girl will play your video games with you.

    Much as there are nice guys out there, there are nice girls, too (who are sometimes overlooked because they aren't all tarted up).

    Worked for my husband, I guess. And the PS3 is my baby, so I'd never ever hurt it.
