UPDATE]]> We've already seen Walmart's $300 Xbox 360 Elite. But according to what looks to be a leaked Target ad that will hit distribution this Sunday (the 30th), a $250 Xbox Pro will be joining the system. UPDATE, Best Buy too!

It's all been rumored for a while, but seeing those numbers captured with some sort of sub-cellphone-quality camera really makes the price reduction hit home. (Plus, the extra controller Target's offering is a pretty tempting cherry on top.)

This is happening, folks. And the feeling is more intense than I'd ever imagined. [Engadget]

UPDATE: Kotaku has just published a similar ad from Best Buy. At this point, we don't even need Microsoft to confirm. I mean, they can or whatever. But we already know what's up.

<![CDATA[Oracle of Xbox 360 Packaging Predicts Pro Will Be Murdered in Its Sleep by Cheaper Elite]]> Following the rumor that the pricey Xbox 360 Elite would take on a more populist tack as the standard console to fight the PS3 Slim—shoving aside the current Pro—is new Arcade packaging that totally dumps the Pro. <![CDATA[Microsoft Swapping Xbox Pro for Elite? PS3 Slim Arriving Shortly Thereafter?]]> The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser.According to one of Ars Technica's reliable sources, the Xbox 360 lineup will see a marked shift this fall. And the PS3 Slim is still on its way.

This September, the Xbox 360 Pro (60GB, $299) will be replaced by the Elite (120GB, $399). So in one sense, the Xbox will see a price cut. In another, the 360 doesn't necessarily sound like it's getting any cheaper with some lower entry level price.

Also of note, Ars reaffirmed their claim that a PS3 Slim would arrive this fall along with price drops "on the hardware that's out now." Even with these rumors standing as they are, Sony cuts the price of the PS3, it's hard to imagine Microsoft not offering a true price cut as well. [Ars Technica]

<![CDATA[Dealzmodo: Xbox 360 Pro with Three Games for $284 Shipped Today Only]]> Well, look at what we have here. Dell is selling the Xbox 360 Pro (with the 60GB hard drive), along with Lego Indiana Jones, Kung Fu Panda, and Madden NFL '09 for the one-day-only price of $284.05. The system normally retails for $299 alone, so you better believe this is a Dealzmodo.

Head over to Dell's site, where the bundle is available for an already noteworthy $299, and then use the coupon code TP5NV0VMFJ9BCZ at checkout, which'll give you another 5% off. This deal expires presumably at midnight, so you bargain-hunters should jump on it as quick as you can. [TechDealDigger]

<![CDATA[The Best Xbox 360 Deal: Arcade Bundle + 60GB Live Starter Pack, $250]]> So, I went to Circuit City yesterday because I couldn't keep myself away from the Black Friday madness (it's fun), and because I wanted to pick up that $199 Xbox 360 Arcade + 20GB refurb hard drive, since it was a good deal without BS add-ons. Apparently, they only had one of those per store, so I missed it. But that's okay, there's a better no BS Xbox deal worth highlighting: Amazon is selling the Arcade Holiday Bundle + a 60GB Xbox Live Starter Pack for $250, which basically amounts to $50 off of the Pro.

And you get 3 months of Live free. I think it's better than the more prevalent software bundles, personally, since not everybody wants Kung Fu Panda or even Rock Band. Just $50 off the Pro, straight up. (You've gotta get your own HDMI cables, but just get 'em from Monoprice for a few bucks.) The discount takes shows up when they're both in the cart. They've got 500 total, so hit it quick. As always, if you've seen better, let us know. [Amazon]

<![CDATA[Xbox 360 Pro Hits $299 at Target]]> The Xbox 360 price drop has pretty much gone official, with Target offering an in-store price of $299.99. The only thing weird about this is that it's not the rumored 60GB version that we thought was coming, so it's possible that Target is just clearing out old inventory for the new SKU? We won't know anything for certain until someone from Microsoft gets up on stage and says it. Or until they put out a press release. [Target]

<![CDATA[FT Says Europeans Getting Xbox 360 Price Cut Tomorrow]]> The Financial Times Germany has published a story saying Microsoft will be knocking down the Xbox 360 price on Monday (03/10/08). The price cuts are to take place across Europe and will supposedly see the Xbox 360 Arcade dropped from €280 ($432) to €199 ($307), while the Xbox 360 Pro will apparently be slashed to €299 ($461) from €349 ($538.)

This isn't the first time we have heard such rumors raging through the tubes, but the Financial Times is, more often than not, a super reliable source. Why do you guys care? Well, if this happens to be true—and we won't have to wait long to find out—surely the States will see some price cutting goodness shortly thereafter? [I4U]
