    Pro tip: If you send the seller a question on eBay asking whether it's banned it could probably help.

    If they say it isn't and it turns out it is then you can take it to eBay and their protection scheme can probably sort it out. #usedxbox360

    If you buy a 360 on eBay, be sure to use PayPal. Then if the system is truly banned, you just have to file a claim with Paypal and they will definitely get your money back.

    I know this because I sell stuff on eBay all day. #usedxbox360

    Buying a used 360 is never a wise idea - that warranty may be needed. I've upgraded from my launch day units to HDMI units a few years ago, sold my launch units for about $100 a piece less than a new unit, and my warranty clock was reset.

    Now, apparently, I'm the only person to never have a true RROD, and still warranty three units (power failure during firmware upgrade, lightning friend one completely, took out the ethernet on the other). I would be out a ton of money if MS's warranty was not as good as it is. #usedxbox360

    @valkilmerisawful: I think the point is that since xboxes are failure-prone, if you buy one it is good to have a warranty on it (or to just skip it and go for something more stable) #usedxbox360

    It's just in general not a good idea to buy a used 360 with RROD and warranty transfer issues. This only further cements that concept. #usedxbox360

    The least Microsoft could do is create a serial number checker on their website so that people can check if the serial number of their intended Xbox isn't banned. It's not so hard to run a database check vs another database is it? #usedxbox360

    @antpwny: So people would post known good SNs instead of the one on the box. You've got as much chance getting your money back via Paypal as if they stated it wasn't banned. #usedxbox360

    @dingus: They can prove to be grounds to get your money back via paypal or if in person as the aformentioned person has stated, verified by the naked eye. In addition they could just photograph the serial if you wanted to buy it. #usedxbox360

    The University of California at Santa Barbara has a sort of 3D-projection version of this, called the AlloSphere. Its director, JoAnn Kuchera-Morin, gave a TED talk about it earlier this year. She's a cool lady (I used to work down the hall from her), and she's put together a truly fantastic marvel of technology.

    It was a blast to quite literally explore a human brain, as well as a zinc oxide crystal. Check it out:

    Ages ago I used to play a fairly realistic surgery game on the PC, loved it even though I had lost the manual and learned by trial and error (can't do that in medical school). Would love to get a current gen game like that to play around with. #thiscyborglife
