Xbox 360 Outsells PS3 3:1 on Black Friday |

And I still buy the 10-20 dollar DVD's that work perfectly fine. I mean, I have an HD tv, but there's not a noticable difference, and for twenty dollars less than a Blu-Ray disk, it's just the more economical option.

I doubt the ps3 is overpriced (there's a difference between overpriced and expensive). Last I heard Sony were actually making losses on every sale.

And note that BR was developed by more than just Sony, but also Matsushita, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung.
And with Pioneer's announcement today about 400 GB BR discs, I think the format is more than just stop gap.
Back on topic, XBox 360 is clearly destroying PS3 in sales, and this was supposed to be the year of the PS3 (MGS4, LBP). This has got to feel like a kick in the nuts for SONY.

Maybe they're looking at the games?

I can watch movies on my Playstation 3!
Yeah....I can play *games* on my 360...I mean, seriously....

It's kind of a catch-22. You can buy the PS3 knowing it has no games, but will always be able to play them, or you could buy the XBOX knowing it has a bunch of games, but you'll never be able to play them.
At least with the PS3 you also get a blu-ray player :c)

I guess it really is all about the games.

I laughed when I saw this. When you look at the exclusive franchises on the 360 as compared to the PS3, you see that the PS3 has hardly any while the selection for the 360 is unparalelled by any of the other systems. The only reason that Wii outsells 360 is because the Xbox only appeals to more avid gamers, whereas Nintendo made sure to include all demographies in the marketing campaign for the Wii. My grandparents have a Wii for the love of God.

(Unless of course there is a WAD of cash to lock in the exclusive. And at this point, Sony won't play ball like that. MS might.)

It has BLU RAY!
BLUUUU RAAAAY!!!!
consumers should be listening when Sony tells them that they need something!

$300
Cheapest 360: you get the 360 and a 60gig hdd, 2 crappy games. that is pretty much it.
$400
You get PS3, wifi, 80gig hdd, blu-ray player (one of the best players available), just about any 2.5" hdd can be used for upgrading the hard drive
Now, to get the 360 on par with what the ps3 comes standard:
360 bundle: $300
wifi adapter: $50 (for the generic cheapo one)
stand alone blu-ray player: $200 (for the not so best cheapo one)
hdd: $140 (only option to upgrade is 120 gig, and this is amazon.com sale price... 120 gigs for $140 is outlandish price.)
So after upgrading it, the grand total is: $690
Sure some people really may not want the blu-ray player, but if your going HD with a system then why not television and everything else? But sure, Sony could probably just drop out the internal wifi and make it the same price as the 360 $300 bundle.
In the end is all based on what the person can afford and what they want though. As far as the better deal goes, though, it is not a matter of listening to Sony, it's about doing a little math.
Honestly, the only reason I see the 360 selling so much better is the price, and a better price does not necessarily mean a better deal or better system.

People will still buy what is cheaper in terms of initial start-up cost.
