PC World China is saying that the upcoming Xenium x800 will have an "e2e" screen— that's an edge-to-edge touchscreen, apparently. From the photos it looks like it's got an orientation sensor, Wi-Fi, a browser, a curved design and a bevelled metal edge. Sounds a little familiar? Check out the photos yourselves.

<![CDATA[Philips Xenium 9@9j Cellphone Has AAA Battery Power Backup]]> We've talked about Philips Xenium cellphones long battery life before, but the new Xenium 9@9j goes one better: it's the first to use "BackuPower" battery technology. Slot an AAA battery into the phone, and the April-bound 9@9j will slurp power from it when its standard Li-ion battery goes flat, giving you an extra three hours of talk time. Its the first cellphone to do this, and though it increases its size, those extra hours are going to be useful for people who spend time away from power sockets. [Techdigest]

<![CDATA[Philips Xenium 9@9u Gets FCC Love]]> Philips' line of Xenium 9@9 cellphones are best known for their incredibly long battery life. The new Xenium 9@9u that has just been given the FCC unveiling seems to be at the bottom of the Xenium battery life scale, with an expected run time of one month on standby and up to 8 hours of talk time from a single charge.

The phone is still well-equipped, featuring a GSM Tri-Band, 262K color display, FM-radio, MP3 player, 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, USB and microSD card-slot. Release date and price are still unknown, but with a long battery life, sleek appearance and a slew of features, the 9@9u looks like a pretty good phone. Hit the jump to see more 9@9u pictures from the infamous FCC. [via Latest-Mobile]

<![CDATA[Philips Adds BackuPower to Already Long-Lasting Xenium Cellphones]]> We were already mildly impressed with the Philips Xenium line of cellphones, boldly claiming to hold out for a full month on a single battery charge. Now, the company rolls out an additional tier of battery endurance, letting you slip a AAA battery inside if you've still forgotten to charge that phone.

The dumb name BackuPower was assigned to this feature, whose backup strategy actually sounds like a good idea. Imagine, your cellphone runs out of juice and you're in the middle of nowhere and all there is a convenience store nearby. Hey, they have AAA batteries in there, don't they? You get the idea. Now, if you're packing a Xenium, that "my battery ran out of juice" excuse isn't going to work any more.

<![CDATA[Philips Xenium Clamshell Yaps For a Month]]> philips9x9phonesmall.jpgPhilips drops another handset in their Xenium 9@9 cellphone line for those people who never remember to charge their phones. Instead of a candybar form factor, however, this Xenium 9x9 is a clamshell with a brushed metal finish and a 262K OLED display, but still has the ability to last up to 30 days on standby.

Other than the extremely long battery life, there's not much else to the phone. There's a 1.3-megapixel camera, 18MB of internal memory, GSM Tri-Band, and a secondary outside OLED display. Great if you just want a phone, but mediocre if you want to do anything beyond calling.

<![CDATA[Philips Xenium 9@9 Cellphones Let You Talk Forever and a Day]]> Here's a characteristic for a cellphone other then just loading on more and more features: these suckers have extremely long battery life. The Philips Xenium 9@9a (pictured at left) is bereft of any extra bells and whistles but can hang on in standby for 40 days and 40 nights on a single charge, and even the most talkative jabberjaws in the world can go on gabbing all day, 10 hours without having to recharge the thing.

Other than that advanced energy efficiency, the line of 9@9 phones are fairly ordinary. The Xenium 9@9d (pictured in the middle) adds a 1.3-megapixel camera to the mix, while the 9@9t is a smartphone with handwriting recognition, an MP3 player and a miniSD memory expansion slot. You gotta love that long, long battery life. Welcome back to cellphoneage, Philips!
