After all, the only people who can actually build it are Dr.Doom, Magneto, and Larry Ellison.

I wish it was real, however. The Ikkar allows for 50 passengers, with suites that have terraces facing the ocean. Stationary or at low speed, the Ikkar can open its hull sideways, deploying two large dock surfaces that allow people to walk and enjoy the sun. On the top, a solar sail—equipped with photovoltaic cells—grabs energy to help power the ship. Inside, a teleporting machine can transport you anywhere in the planet, while an anti-matter cannon could evaporate any enemies out of the water.

I'm just making this thing even better, ok? [Luxury Issues via Born Rich]

<![CDATA[Lila-Lou's Ankida Yacht Will Make You Long For A Journey]]> I don't even want to imagine what the price tag for Lila-Lou's finely-tuned Ankida yacht will be. I just want to lay on the deck and watch the wind hit those optimally-positioned sails as I drift around the world.

The entire driving force of the Ankida concept, aside from beautiful looks, is to have ideal placement for every part and get the most out of your escapes. Whether you prefer to move under only one sail, or test the performance of them all, you can easily do it with a hell of a lot of style. And while it's a still just a concept design, I'm already lost in daydreams of adventure and pirates. [Super Yacht Times via BornRich]

<![CDATA[This Is My Dream House, Except It's Not a House]]> I want to live here. Spacious, sunny apartment, hard wood floors, glass and steel. Except that this is not an apartment. It's not even a building. It's the strangest yacht I've seen, as these pretty shots show:

Designed by luxury fashion company Hermes and ship-builder Wally, the $142 million WHY 58x38 is more floating mansion than yacht. Those figures stand for its peculiar 58 by 38 meter dimensions, which is unlike any other vessel in the world. It features solar panels that will save 200 tons of diesel fuel per year, as well as 3,229 square feet of windows designed to bathe its interior with natural light.

According to Luca Bassini, founder of Wally, "I think the best part of this boat is the stern. It's not like the usual stern of a boat, it's more like the real beach of an island; a beach which is protected from the wind and the waves, where you can really relax." You are so damn right, Luca. If you are reading this, please move it somewhere near New York so I can lease one of its six suites for a year or two (and be a pal and make that the 2,152-square-foot master suite, please). <![CDATA[007-Gadget-Filled Superyacht For Sale, One Insane Owner: Saddam]]> For a cheap-at-half-the-price sum of just $30million you could be the owner of the Basra Breeze—a 270-foot superyacht that Bond himself, or perhaps, more fittingly, a Bond-style supervillain would be proud of. Why? Because as well as your standard superyacht golden faucets, the Breeze has a helicopter landing deck, and a bullet-proof atrium.

Better yet there's even an escape pod accessed by a ship-wide secret passageway, and a place to install your collection of surface-air missiles. I'm certain I've seen both of those in Bond movies.

Plus you'd have the pleasure of owning a ship with the dubious cachet of once belonging to Middle-Eastern dictator, Saddam Hussein himself. The Iraqi government's the vendor, but if you're in the market for it, you'd better have no sense of style: apparently the interior decor is as crazy as the moustachioed-one himself was. <![CDATA[Norman Foster Designs Yet Another Amazing Yacht We Will Never Enjoy]]> This is the YachtPlus 40 Signature Series, a 134-foot ship designed by architects Foster + Partners. Unlike other superyachts, this one is not just a stunning rendering, but it's now being constructed in Italy and should be available to buy for a whole load of dollars in September. I would say at least 35 dollars. Even more. According to the manufacturers, its design offers more space than any ship in its class. Loaded with features, the interior looks as good as the exterior. Go ahead and drool.

Clearly, this was designed by an architect. Head to Dezeen for the full report.

<![CDATA[328-Foot RAM Wing 100 Yacht Zips Along at 100 Knots]]> Is this RAM Wing 100 yacht by Levi Designs a catamaran or a monohull? It's both, starting out in front is a catamaran and ending up as a monohull in the stern. The most remarkable aspect of this design concept is its tremendous speed, 100 knots with a range of 2000 nautical miles. That's not bad for a giant 328-foot boat that'll have a submarine, twin helipads, a motorcycle/car garage and swimming pool on board. It gets its speed from halfway flying, skimming the waves because of the lift from its catamaran bow. Gorgeous, but will it ever be built? [Luxury Catamaran, via Born Rich]

<![CDATA[Anti-Seasickness Yacht Ensures You're Not Vomiting That Expensive Champagne]]> If the one thing keeping you from buying a luxury yacht is the fact that you vomit uncontrollably whenever there's a stiff breeze, this Ferretti 630 is something you may want to consider. The yacht has an Anti Rolling Gyro to stop side-to-side swaying, which means that whenever the thing tilts to one side, the gyroscope pulls it toward the other. Plus, there's a padded sun lounge and three cabins inside, so you're not sacrificing any of the standard luxury features either. All this can be yours if you decide to have two kids instead of three. <![CDATA[Is it a Boat? Is it a Plane? No, it's the Hydroptre]]> A 60-footer that goes by the name of Hydropt re is hoping to travel at over 50 knots (58mph) and become the world's fastest racing ship. Using "wings", the French-built craft glides over the waves, instead of ploughing through them like a traditional sailing vessel. Even the captain, Alain Th bault, who has crossed the English Channel in just over half an hour, reckons it's more like flying a glider than piloting a yacht.

A breeze of just 12 knots is needed to allow the Hydropt re to fly. Rising 15 feet out of the water, just the carbon fiber ailerons - as strong as the landing gear on an airplane - beneath the trimaran's keels remain in contact with the water, reducing drag to almost zero, and allowing the yacht to hover over the waves. One crewmember steers, while the others bounce around the boat, tightening and loosening sails. And should something go wrong, there is a panic button on the boat, which brings it to a swift halt.

"We're on the border of two worlds, sailing and aeronautics," says Th bault, who has contemplated an attempt on the west-east Transatlantic crossing record. That currently stands at four days and eight hours, and the French vessel would need optimum weather and constant winds over the 3,000 miles.

The Hydropt re currently holds the one-mile and 500-meter records, and has got French knickers in a right old twist. The nation, whose fast train, the 357-mph TGV, became the fastest thing on two rails earlier this year, is counting on the boat to capture the world speed record for sailing, currently held by an Irish windsurfer.

Already the trimaran has hit 47.2 knots in training, just 1.5 knots below the two-year-old record held by Finian Maynard, which Captain Th bault will be attempting to smash in Brittany this winter. "The 50-knot mark in sailing is a bit like the sound barrier in flying," he said. "After that, everything is possible." [Times Online via Luxist]

<![CDATA[Dealzmodo: Free Boat With $495,000 Sam's Club Lifetime Membership]]> Is the boat free, or is the membership thrown in? It's a tough call. But what we do know is that Sam's club is offering quite the delectable combo at the moment.

The Windsor Craft 36 immediately evokes heartfelt nostalgia for wooden boats of a bygone era, and yet it has all the advantages of being a thoroughly modern boat...hand-crafted in Turkey by old world craftsmen who, with an expert eye, select each mahogany plank.
But we want to hear more about this membership! Sure, even a lifetime of Clubbing still only saves you $40 a year. But what if you live to 12,000?

Didn't count on that one, did you?
