Everyone from Snoop Dogg to 50 Cent could be seen flashing their shiny white player, much in the same manner that Paris Hilton whored herself out to the Sidekick. But lately it seems the iPod has been getting the shaft from Hollywood who has been caught holding hands with other players. Take for instance Fergie's "Fergalicious" video. As painful as it is to watch (seriously, don't Google it), she has the brains (or maybe her agent does) to carry a Samsung YP-K5. Then there's...

h10_24.jpg 24. In an old episode, we see an iRiver H10 being used to detonate a bomb. Even 007 settled for a Sony Ericsson in place of an iPod in last year's Casino Royale. As much as I like my iPod, I find it refreshing that Hollywood is welcoming other players into the foray—players that deserve the attention (ok, so the H10 is old, but still, it was a good player back in the day). Now how long before we see a Zune in a music video and which video will that be?

<![CDATA[Samsung YP-K5 Ad Goes After The iPod]]> The Samsung YP-K5 MP3 player with built-in speakers that we reviewed and saw someone run over has its own ad now, just like a big boy music player.

Directly challenging the iPod, the ad focuses on using built-in speakers to connect people instead of separating them—one of the main complaints of street iPod use. Except how happy will you be when some ass is listening to their YP-K5 on the bus when you're trying to get some sleep? Yeah, that's what we thought.

<![CDATA[Samsung YP-K5: Korea Gets All of the Cool MP3 Players]]> Samsung has released the YP-K5 MP3 player in Korea. This is pretty unfortunate for everyone else in the world because this player seems pretty awesome. It supports MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG. It is available in 1GB, 2GB or 4GB capacities and includes a snazzy, slide-out integrated speaker. The controls also look pretty good, along with the LCD screen. Damn you, Korea. Share the cool DAP love every now and then. iPods are just so 2004, we need something new to tickle our fancy.
