Granted, most of that is due to the fact that I suck—but I digress. Zalman's new FPSGun FG1000 is attempting to incorporate a more visceral experience into the popular FPS genre with a uniquely designed gun-like mouse. Maximum PC recently took the FPSGun for a spin, but the reality is that the device is far from perfect.

Max PC found that the position of the 2000dpi adjustable-resolution optical sensor allowed for more precise horizontal control than a traditional mouse, but only at the expense of the vertical control. They also found that the layout worked fairly well, but the device was far too small to be comfortable for those with even normal sized hands. Plus, the unique design makes it impractical for anything but gaming. Still, Kudos to Zalman for thinking out of the box on the design. Pricing information and a release date have not been announced. Full specs are available at the Zalman website. [Zalman and Maximum PC]

<![CDATA[Zalman 2D/3D Convertible LCD Monitors Work, Don't Impress]]> The iZ3D monitor isn't the only gimmicky gaming monitor at CES. Zalman has 19- and 22-inch LCDs that require goofy goggles to make your World of Warcraft jump off the screen. Two versions of the glasses and more info after the jump.

zalmanglasseswtmk.jpg The tech does work, and it looks slightly better than the cereal box 3D we're used to, but for some reason I just can't get excited about "3D" gaming; I have a feeling that 3D movies never went mainstream for the same reason. Zalman says they want lengthier field tests as they max out at about 2 hours of continuous WoW in the office, but they haven't experienced any side effects. The viewing angle for the 3D is about 10 degrees vertically and 90 degrees horizontally, so don't invite your friends over for Finding Nemo parties. The monitors will start around $499 and have a non-3D mode you can switch on if you get self-conscious about your new spectacles.

<![CDATA[Zalman's Big-Ass Fan]]> Zalman has teamed up with some British Aerospace wind tunnel engineers to design this, the Big Boy Turbo Mega Fan 2. It requires an absurd 1400W of power and the included documentation even gives instructions on how to daisy chain power supplies to properly feed this beast. If you squint hard enough you can see a size comparison to a pack of delicious menthol cigarettes.
