One of the world's largest hard drive makers has emerged as another victim of the floods that've hit Thailand, with WD reporting that one of its Thai plants has been "inundated" by water and some equipment is currently underwater.

WD has two production plants in Thailand: the Bang Pa-in Industrial Park is the one that's currently properly soaked and ruined, while the second facility at the Navanakorn Industrial Park is struggling, too. WD says that: "...the park flood defenses were breached on Monday morning local time and water has begun to flow into the park, threatening the company's facilities there."

Which, according to a WD spokesman, means there will be "significant impact on the company's overall operations and its ability to meet customer demand for its products in the December quarter."

What with this and the strange smelling laptop factory from yesterday, we might be looking at a mostly wood-based selection of Christmas presents this year. [The Register via Gizmodo UK]
