Couldn't sleep, was playing some Zelda: Link's Awakening after 10 years (great original Game Boy game) and then the page froze before I saved... about 1 hours worth of play lost.

Thank God for auto-saving games nowadays.

Any retro games you all have started to play? I definitely had a pang for starting Majora's Mask again over this spring break...

@jeevesofRKdia thinks he: I'm playing pokemon soul silver... does that count? I mean it's not a retro game, but it is a remake of a retro game...

#whitenoise

@shadzow: Eh, close enough. :P
I personally stopped at Red and Blue. I don't remember why, even...

@jeevesofRKdia thinks he: I got pokemon blue 10 years ago and I was never able to beat it. Great game though....

@mrgibblechip: I miss Link's Awakening :(

I really need to expand my vintage gaming collection again. I've lost so much.

As for me, I'm not playing much of ANY games these days. Lame.

#whitenoise

@jeevesofRKdia thinks he: By the way... the page froze? Where you playing it in browser or something? I was asking for this exact thing yesterday around these parts.

@jeevesofRKdia thinks he: "Any retro games you all have started to play?"

Umm. All of them.

Just recently got back into Kirby Superstar, Jet Force Gemini, Ocarina of Time (verifiably the greatest game of all time).

A new used game store opened up near me recently. No more of this GameStop "by used we only mean this and maybe last-gen" crap. They have virtually every console and every game. I've been spending all my gaming time exploring every inch of my childhood.

Good times.

@jeevesofRKdia thinks he: I still play Mario Kart 64 with friends on occasion. My university even had a MK64 tournament last year; I won a wii.

Sometimes the simplicity of older games is what makes them great.

@jeevesofRKdia thinks he: I can finish off Symphony of the Night in one sitting......

Why did I just admit that?

#whitenoise

@jeevesofRKdia thinks he: To this day I periodically play through Zelda: Link to the Past. I can beat the game in 8-9 hours now that I've played it so many times.

#whitenoise

@jeevesofRKdia thinks he: Ah yes link's awakening. I recently (~6 months ago) bought up all of the gameboy zelda games (links awakening, oracle of ages/seasons, link to the past, etc.) and decided i wanted to play them

also, from time to time I'll boot up Project64 and play me some Ocarina of time. It's certainly been awhile though. so much to do!

#whitenoise

@TomServo: Oooh! That was one of my favorite Zelda's. Maybe even more so than the original. 8-9 hours is pretty impressive.

I restored my original Nintendo Entertainment System [spelled it out for nostalgia] a few summers ago. That was a blast.

@RT100: I went through super metroid in one sitting yesterday.
then without getting up did metroid fusion and metroid zero mission, both in under 2 hours.

mad metroid marathon
also, alliteration ftw xD

#whitenoise

@Captain K'nuckles: Yeah. There's that VirtualNES sister site for Game Boy games... I was feeling a little nostalgic, so I tried to play a little Links Awakening.

#whitenoise

@OCEntertainment:

All excellent games. I remember getting a SNES at the end of it's lifecycle when they came out with the new thinner form factor. Kirby Superstar came with it.
My cousin and I played all the way to the tower of boss fights that you unlock after playing all the games. Good times.

@robooneus:
It's also a function of the controller. You didn't have to think, "What button do I have to press for Mega Man to jump?" you just pressed one of the two and then you knew all the controls.
