The really fun part of this bit of kit is the mindstorms controller. We actually used that controller along with the sensors and some mitsuba motors to build a little battle bot for a mechatronics class. no lego bits, just wood and steel and rubber. it was pretty rad. The best part of the whole thing is the UI for programming. it's all drag and drop and you can do a lot of conditional programming, ladder logic and ramped responses. very cool, extremely easy to master, and tons of fun.

I got to play with one of those NXT kits at the US FIRST National Robotics Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, this past April. I didn't get to go totally hands on, but there were demostrations and such. Looked very cool. I remember there was a robot that could move around on it's own, and if I recall correctly, could dance. It was amusing to watch. -nesdude
