-Time Machine is not just a ripoff of System restore. It is better than system restore in every way, and has more features by far. Go to the apple site to see - you can restore only certain folders, certain apps, etc. Windows restore not only lacks this feature, but DESTABILIZES THE WHOLE COMPUTER IF YOU USE IT MORE THAN A FEW TIMES. Ask some computer scientists - windows system restore messes with registry data and can break new programs and destabilize your system. Plus, it FORCES you to uninstall everything you've installed since the restore date [with a few exceptions]. The idea isn't original, granted, but Time Machine is definitely NOT just a ripoff of system restore. It's still damn funny that it froze though, but that's what you get with betas [as far as I've heard, the crash didn't take the whole system down, unlike most crashes in windows].

-If you want to talk about copying, talk about how windows copies linux. That's where multiple desktops originated, from all I've read and seen. Plus, I've used the powertoy that gives multiple desktops - it's a piece of crap. The Mac one looks MUCH better in every way, and surely more stable. Apple copied Linux much better than Microsoft did.

-Ichat's video chat and such are so much better than msn's its sad. Look at the memory usage, the processor usage, and the reliability of msn - it's downright pathetic. Also, its "ask for remote assistance" doesn't work. No, it's not buggy, it flat out DOES NOT WORK on almost every 2 computer setup. If apple's works well, it'll be one of the best tools in recent years, in my opinion.

Anyways, my point is that Apple isn't ripping off windows - Apple AND Microsoft are learning from the Linux/OpenSource community most of the time. They've both had some innovations, but considering development time, neither has likely actually SEEN a demo of a feature of the other's OS and decided to start implementing it in theirs, they both just reached similar conclusions about what users need at this point.

Lastly, I'm quite ashamed of the amount of windows trashing that went on today. That was just lame. No wonder such a large part [note, I did not say ALL] of the Mac community is filled with arrogance and snobbery. If apple keeps defining its innovations as "what windows doesn't have," I fear every WWDC will end up just like this one, and breakthrough innovations will happen a lot less frequently at Apple.

I spec'd out a similarly configured dell for $2,808. The only difference afaik is the graphics card. A 128MB PCIe x16 nVidia Quadro NVS 285 in the dell. I have never owned a mac and don't consider myself a fanboy at all, but don't compare a byo system picked from the lowest pricewatch prices to a prebuilt computer. That sort of false comparison only makes you look foolish. Also, at $1200 did you forget that it is DUAL dualcore as in two CPUs?

Time Machine: just like System Restore, I would turn it off. I can't stand devoting system resources, especially hard drive space, to what might happen. Just like insurance :-). But seriously, I'd rather have the space to use, and trust myself to not be a stupid computer user, and backup to media or a server things that are crucial to have.

Stationery in email: Uuuggghhhhh. It's bad enough that people use Outlook to send me crap with colored fonts, borders, pictures in the signatures, etc. Now Mac users will have this, too? How is that progress?
