This is one of the few flash MP3 players I've been really excited about. Sony's 'rotating collar' interface on the Walkman remotes of old is one of the best ever: simple, intuitive, and compact. Man I miss my old MD.

Looks like they're trying to compete with the Apple + Nike sport kit, since it's got pedometer functions. Using the g-sensor to toggle shuffle mode and have 'walking' and 'running' playlists is a great idea too. I like the pen-shaped form factor, but can't find any specs or pictures that show how big it is. <= 4 inches, okay. Actual dildo size, no (besides, it's not very textured).

The LCD screen in the photo looks like it's a sticker.

You guys remember that horrid mouse from Apple (which one!?) that was
round like a hockey puck? You could never tell which way was up by
touch, and it drove people mad. Remember that rash of designers going
postal around 2000? It was that mouse that sent them over the edge.

Anyway, I predict the same problem here. Since we rarely look at our
music players while jogging, riding a bike, or getting off - the player
will be tricky to operate. That, and all the lube will make it hard to
hold onto...let alone trying to press all the right button in time to
the...um...rhythm.

I'll give a shiney nickle to the first person to crack one of these open. I'm really curious how it's manufactured. I can't imagine that a traditional circuit board would work. what does the flash unit look like, how does the rotating interface work... wow, just when I think sony is out of ideas, they come up with something like this and pique my curiosity.
