To whom it may concern,

On Saturday morning I was browsing the Radio Shack website and noticed that you were offering the Nintendo Wii as a pre-order item. I had been planning to purchase the Wii as a Christmas present and was worried that I was either going to have to wait in a line somewhere or spend the next month calling stores and/or tracking down this item all over town. So when I saw that one of my personal favorite stores, Radio Shack, was offering it as a pre-order I was extremely happy and immediately placed an order. Soon after I received a confirmation email with a status of back order. This seemed to confirm that the item would ship once it was released to the public (11/19).

After getting such a confirmation I felt that things were set and I would receive the Nintendo Wii sometime next week. I went about the rest of my day and didn't even bother attempting to go to any of the midnight launches for this highly sought after item because I felt secure in having an order placed at Radio Shack.

It wasn't until Sunday that I realized that Radio Shack had completely let me down. Shame on you! I also discovered, via an internet blog site, that you had done this to hundreds of people. I cannot fathom why you would go to the trouble of creating a pre-order web page for this item, accept payment information from hundreds of people and then turn around and cancel all the orders in an email that appears to be stating it was all a mistake. How does a pre-order website get posted by mistake? Did you get hacked? If you did, I would like to know because you now have personal information and credit card information from hundreds of people whom you have no intention of accomodating. Being in the internet security field myself it behooves you to release such information if that is the case.

On the other hand, if this was indeed a mistake on your part, I would like a more realistic explanation. I have been a Radio Shack customer for life and have always thought highly of your store. There have been many times where I could purchase electronic parts and components online for a bit less but I have patronized my local Radio Shack instead because I have always had a fondness for your stores.

Sadly, unless you can convince me otherwise, this is an unacceptable stunt that you have appeared to pull on hundreds of people. Given this, unless you can correct the situation, I will no longer shop at another Radio Shack, nor on RadioShack.com, again. That is a promise! I will also post my experience on every blog site so that others know what happened to me and why my family will not have a Nintendo Wii as expected thanks to this poorly executed product pre-order by Radio Shack.

I urge you to do the right thing and do one of the following:

1) Accomodate the people who placed orders by providing them with the product they ordered.

2) If that cannot be done then you have no other option than to come clean and explain exactly how it is that you would place a pre-order page on your website with seemingly no intention of honoring the orders in the first place.

3) Offer everyone who was duped by your poorly executed pre-order plan a gift card or redeemable coupon for a free Wii game or peripheral at your store.

You have a chance to redeem yourselves. I hope that you will do the right thing this time.

if you read the subject its a backorder/advance order email. and if you check the site its got a different code than a straight backorder.

I think thats what the shack is sending out to let you know its on preorder.

The whole purchase transaction went off without a hitch but I became suspicious after checking my order status and seeing my info and then upon re-checking the status I got a message that it was an invalid order number/zip code. I am hoping that I got in on time and they will ship before Christmas so i am letting it ride until i can get another one form another vendor.

BTW: The Shack rep asked if I would like to cancel my order.

I am not giving up hope yet because the Shack came through on an Infocus HD projector i bought from them for $600 in a similar retail frenzy.

Anyway, I haven't really been looking at the Wii much. I've glanced at things, and I was skeptical about the motion controller. Now, looking at the titles and thinking, I'm a lot more excited about it. Excite Truck looks fun and Red Steel could be a really cool game if done correctly.

Can the Wii be used on Projection screens? If I pop it over to my buddy's house with the Hd projector with a 13 foot screen, will that work?

Red Steel would be a full immersion type game then....*thinks*
