Nevertheless, syzygy is right; in your car, how important is perfect reproduction really? Road noise will destroy the subtleties of any song far harsher than some digital compression.

Pioneer has always made decent audio equipment at decent prices. You don't need to spend $$$ to get audio quality adequate for a car. Or do you only listen when the car is parked in your driveway?

Absolute antithesis of this; the 96Khz/24 bit DVD-Audio-playing head unit I just put in. Not many DVD-As out there but I can always roll my own from vinyl, SACDs and safety masters.
