Look, if you're not cool enough to figure out the times of sand from that display then you don't deserve such a trendy device. Only the select few who are willing to be a few minutes early/late should have such a timepiece. Some people who should have this:

Evil Overlords who set a countdown timer to destroy the hero with grains of sand in an hourglass.

Poeple who are self employed and thus, sense of time means nothing to them.

When you only have 1 hour to rescue Princess Penolope from the dragons of the wishyfoo, guardians of the well of the Wishyfoo, and you need a quick glance as to how you're doing.

Paris Hilton, who doesn't really give a crap what time it is, unless there's a debutante ball she must attend, and even then it's best to arrive fashionably late.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find any watch that looks good on my tiny bird wrists. I exercise masochism by going to jewelers and challenging them to find a watch that doesn't look ridiculous on me. As of yet, none have been successful.

Agreed, alot of the watches I see on the internet look cool, but wearing them is like putting on a giant nerd sign.

More info here. That's beautiful!! Bonus points for making the shape of the watch fit the function.

But, is it LED or LCD? OLED makes the most sense since it is a type of LED that's easier to manufacture in a grid. But, the article says that the "light-emitting diode technology often used in watches is the basis of the screen image" -- which isn't true... it's 99.999% LCD.

LCDs typically involve glass, which would be hard to cut to an hourglass shape. OLED could be made with plastic and be more flexible.

Anyway, I love it!! Hope it gets made.

What would be sweet is if you could set the timer for the sand. For example, you set it for 15 minutes and it gives you a nice graphical representation of how much time has passed and how much time you've got left.
