When done right (an inexact mix of spinning and settling, with a couple taps on the top before opening), you can definitely take a beer from "back-seat-of-the-car hot" to "immediately drinkable" in about 60 seconds. Works best with cans, but it can be done for glass bottles, too. Plastic bottles don't conduct heat well enough for this trick to be truly useful. Foam and over-carbonation isn't a problem if the spinning is done right, though spinning and shotgunning really don't mix.

@Ahnyer Keester -- Agreed that Americans overchill their beers... and that domestic macrobrews deserve to be ice-cold (because there's nothing to taste anyway). But there are plenty of beers that can use a slight drop below room temperature to open up the flavor profile.

This product is a rip-off of several products already on the market, including this one invented by a friend of mine (and readily available at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Linen's n' Things, Sam's Club...etc. for $60 to $80):
