I guess I'm just ghetto and use scotch tape to tape cables to the edge of the desk. Sure they don't move, but at least it works as well. Some more creative types have used the huge binder clips...

Another solution that works is one of those spiral wire "letter holders" they have about 10 slots in them designed to hold letters, but they are perfect for sliding desktop cables into also, and they still hold letters! Picked one up at Office... something... store for 2 bucks. They have little rubber feet.

The abilty to untangle cables is all that separates us from lower primates. That and dry cleaning. That's it.

You should relish the experience of working out the complex interplay between the cable you want, the 5 or so you don't want and the usual 2 that have never had any purpose at all as far as you can tell. Think of them as the threads we all share, binding us all together into a giant and incredibly stylish technological tapestry of delight.

I use these little self-adhesive plastic clips from Rad Shmack: cat# 278-1647a

You get a pack of TEN of them for 2.99 in my store.

I mount them under the desk along the edges where they keep multiple cables under control without being seen at all.

Well it looks like the holes are actually in a type of foam or velvet, with slits to insert the wires.

Plus as Wiseblood said, not having the cables fall behind the desk is a great plus.

And one comment about the picture: Is that both ends of an iPod cable in the holder? Shouldn't one end be attached to the computer?? Haha

I've often considered building a similar device jsut to keep those cords from slipping behind the desk into the abyss of all the other cords.

Except I never planned on spending more than like $10 on such a device. I really have no idea how that little thing is worth $55.

I love it! I'm tired of cleaning out wiring closest that look like spider monkeys mating! I want to come home to a immaculately organized desk! Hmm... it's only for the Rich and the anal. We'll I half fit that description. Close enough for govt. work.
