I see things like these as great sales tools, I've been hoping they'll come down in price enough to really make it worth it. Just being able to put on a few megs worth of files onto a disk and hand it to the customer with all your contact details on the front cover would be pretty great. Especially if you add VCard and URL links and the like.

That being said, the form factor is not at all good. The one that I've got my sights set on can be found at: http://www.walletex.com/gp.asp?gpid=2 - which looks reasonably portable, and something you can just whip out of a wallet.

The price is still way too high though. I'm more lookign for something sub $1. Or even sub-50 cents to make it worthwhile.

Moof

silly me, i thought i would see something that looked like a business card, haha. otherwise, even if these were cheap, how could you have more than a handful in your pockets at a time? the bulge supports the porn industry applications, but otherwise i can't see these being extremely practical just yet.

noneother

@ Mr. Black:

i can see this happening with Porn starts where they can give previews of there abilities on vidios and screen shots of you know like the money shot. so i think this would be a great idead for that industry.

SBGUY27

I've always liked this idea...especially for say, a photographer, who can load up a flash driven portfolio.

Mr. Black @ Sanctuary93.com

I used business card shaped mini CD's one time when I was on the job hunt. I stored my resume in PDF and a quick intro to myself, like a CV. I had my friend put a flash wrapper around it to auto run and gave the user the abilty to select the video or PDF.
Overall I find networking with people works much better than gimmicks but it gave me great leads. I did this back in '04

Boognish

Yeah, if these came loaded with various price lists and a company profile and whatever else you would want to stick on it to show potential clients it would be more than worth it, who would you rather hire? The guy who gave you a crappy piece of paper or the guy who gave you a usb thumb drive with your complete company history/prices/policies/services/upskirt shots of the secretary on it?

jackfrost132

What it does do, however, is give a reason for potential clients a reason to hold on to your card. It also makes your card stand out much more than that other guy.

Personally, if I was trying to get a contract that I knew was up for grabs, it certain situations I might be interested in using this.
