It's not actually 4:3. If you look at the end of the video where it shows the old sea captain looking dude, he is a lot skinnier than in real life.

The whole video is shot in 16:9 and squished into 4:3 making the notebooks look like they are not wide screen

Intel's skinny Metro laptop, complete with steal-me design and e-ink exterior info display, got an outing at the Vista developer forum, AeroXperience. This thing is toasty-hot.

that was pretty weak. Ok several notebooks have the sideshow thing or some other super nintendo conroller glued on. But Intel has a concept design that could be sold out of hot topic! heck when I think of intel I think of architecture, not form factors, BTX anyone?

Geezus, you guys are a tough crowd. People seem to forget that the great thing about conceptual models is that it can still evolve into a final version. It's a nice showing; kudo's to them for trying so many different things with one model!

...which is more than I can say for many other manufacturers.

Here's a pic, http://gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2007/05/intel_front.jp... It's .7 inches thin, weighing 2.3 lbs. That's right. Lots of goodies, including wrap to edge screen, wi-fi max, flash drive, the folio is a swappable wireless charger with the e-book reader, by the way.

Got a problem with the word metro? Tsk. Look it up someday and feel the warm fuzzy of a synapse created as opposed to destroyed.

4:3 screen ratio outdated? Only if you don't work with regular text or legal documents or anything else that's less than 1024 wide.

Face it, there's this thing called business, which includes more than movie watching. Spreadsheets? Now there's a reason for widescreen.

Ok, so we've learned from the video that Intel can make a better looking laptop than any PC laptop maker and that E-ink is so painfully so as to still be virtually unusable.

I'd use it ON the metro actually... so the name doesn't bother me, just the faux goth pleather look.

I can deal with shiny plastic, but please no iGothbook pro.

the external screens are wicked, I'm glad notebook makers are finally taking notebooks beyond "screen/keyboard/mouse" formulas. sometimes portability means you'd like to use it for 3-5 minutes and doing a boot of 2minutes doesn't make that convenient. (and standby drains batteries...)

Is it just me, or does the name "Metro Laptop" set anybody else off? I wouldn't want to be caught dead holding a Metro Laptop. It seems like I'd have to shave my body from the neck down, wax my eyebrows, put lotion on my face after exfoliating and start using hair "products". Nope, not gonna happen...
