Nintendo wants to charge me $82.50 ($75 + shipping) for the repair, even though it's under warranty and they've publicly acknowledged it as a defect for almost a year now.

Don't make me go all BBB on you Nintendo. Microsoft's already in trouble over my third dead Xbox 360... :(

Boy! do these guys ever make amazingly solid feeling products, the Wii is the same. They must use really high quality plastics compared to other stuff I have touched. Bit off topic I know, and maybe I am a bit late and may be stating things everyone knows - but just was amazed at the feel of their products. Just excellent.
