]]> <![CDATA[Destroy Your G.I. Joes With Remote-Controlled VS Tanks]]> I'm a big fan of these tanks. We banded together and imported about 30 of them for ourselves and friends.

They are a lot of fun, but they are not without problems. I see some antenna on them now, so it may be that they are using RF for control. Ours used infrared, which worked fine, unless you get behind an obstacle, which limited the coolness of the battlefields we could build. Also, the build quality was fairly poor. Of the 30 we received, about 8 of them developed problems pretty quickly. Pulling too hard to one side or the other (more than could be corrected using the trim control) and completely failing to respond or responding very sporadically were the main problems.

That said, they were really really fun while they lasted. The neat thing about getting several of the same "frequency" was that it allowed you to control a "battalion" at the same time. Of course, you'd quickly lose control of about half of them, but that was most of the fun.

Oh, and fair warning.. chasing the cat may seem like a good idea at the time, but remember, these tanks are small enough that an angry cat can easily send it flying with a swipe.. from the counter top.. to the floor.. to shatter.. Just saying..

In tank commander course we had to practice dry runs for large-scale excercises using little dummy tanks and move them by hand - this would've been absolutely amazing to have as an alternative!!

I'll think I'll get a set just to relive the heyday...
