I think there are some valid points about the phone's limitations currently. So for some people waiting makes sense, but I think to be fair almost all of those issues are things that seem like will be addressed with software updates in the near future. We've already seen a video messaging hack built so we know it's capable of video.

Definitely for the earlier adopter now, but it's fun when something you buy just gets more functionality every week.

I've also been doing a lot of testing with EDGE and to be honest, with an average of 170kbs around my work and home in LA, it's really pretty great for web browsing. I'd love for ATT to crank it up just a bit more so I can stream video and music a bit faster, but other than that, it's been a pleasant suprise.

I've been on ATT for years and it was much better coverage than sprint or tmobile. I think the provider will really depend on your work and home locations. At least they pick up the phone within 3 minutes when I call as opposed to Sprint which put me on hold forever when I had them before. t-mobile gave me no coverage at home except by the window on the second floor :)

Ok I have had it with the complaints.

How many phones in America have GPS... very few. Japan almost all get over the lack of gps.

How many new tech phones initally only work on one carrier... Many including but not limited to the RAZR. Duh people all Motorola Nextel phones only work on one carrier. Sidekick...ditto, Dash... ditto, early CrackBerries.... Ditto. shut up already.

Flash... with the exception of the videos... most flash sites are overrated bandwidth wasters.. Btw the RAZR and BlackBerries don't do flash either. Many phone won't do flash... over it too.

Closed system ad Lack of SDK... two words RIM Blackberry... next

Expensive.... Relative... girls pay more for handbags. forget it and get a better job.

EDGE... saves battery over 3G and 3G coverage in USA is sparse for now... easy to update via software ... the sim is a 3g sim peoples.

It is made by the Steve... I get it when people get too good we(not me) all start to hate them... Bill, Steve, Donald, Oprah, Diddy, Kobe, Ronaldo, Posh Spice, Barry... it is and old proverb "The higher the monkey climb the mountain the more his a$$ is exposed. Face it like the iPhone or not he is good at what he does. Stock is rising and I'm making money. buy low sell high have money to buy overhyped tech stuff and not care... works for me

No Ringies... will be fixed soon Apple is the Third largest music seller in the USA. Besides game themes, soggy love ballads, and Brittany ringtones are juvenile anyway... I love the mirimba

The list could go on and on but i'll stop here.

No it is not perfect but few first gen devices are... We heard all of this the the iPod gen one came out... 100,000,000 pods later people still talking smack.

if you are not or cannot afford to be an early adopter then don't but give all the negativity a rest. if you were around you all would be saying why should we stand up to walk ... we should wait to see if the other animal will stand up first.

docrock

Why are you calling people names defending a company who just wants to make money? They wouldn't do the same for you, no company would, so why are you doing it for them? Sheesh...

11. It costs $700. For a phone. Seriously.
I love my iPod, but I didn't buy one until the 2nd gen nano 4 gb became affordable.
You can get a blackberry with better service for under $200 and get a voice and data plan that includes push email and all the wonderfulness of the intertubes on your device for less.
The world has gone apple crazy.
Enjoy your iPhones.
@zippyZ:alright i just gotta say u seem very angerd. but anyway i think theres alot of negativity about the iphone simply because some people thought it would be able to do things that come standard on most phones and are kinda pissed at its inability to do them i iguess its kinda like buyin a car then findin out that ull need to go out and buy the engine for it too and it also turns out that the brand istn the most reliable and they make so that only their engines are able 2 be used me personally id be real pissed of about that. so its morely that the iphone hasnt deliviered and i mean a phone without a video recorder and no mms thats proposterous seriously it plays videos but cant take them if im gon pay 500-600 dollars for a phone it better b able 2 take video and me personally i think it should have like a 3megapixel camera or 4. and the comment about apple forever changing cell phones thats just bull is the new age crap phone only it has a touch screen thats about it.

ctndu

Add "that annoying GSM buzz" every few minutes to:

#6) It's not a full iPod Replacement

Kinda defeats the purpose of an all-in-one device if you have to put in Airplane mode. Supposedly this isn't a problem with 3G, another reason the smart money is on iPhone Gen 2. Still, I absolutely love my iPhone, probably the most beautiful interface I've ever used, no platform (mobile or otherwise) has its potential.

jamshid

"Thanks, I had no idea that 2G is too slow for VOIP. I guess Zippy boy's sotware updates will not fix that. Hear that Zippy boy? I guess we should call you Zippit.
What about 3G?"

It is hit or miss since 3G is just a catch-all title to several different technologies (Both HSPDA and EVDO Rev whatever fall under the umbrella). On paper most of the currently touted speeds of various carriers are capable of it but those advertised speeds are very much under optimal conditions. With a good connection and not a whole lot of competing traffic you should be fine, but quality will degrade pretty quickly as your signal fluctuates. Packet loss is very noticable when working with Voice data.

Both Verizon's EVDO network and AT&T's HSPDA network advertise speeds similar to discount DSL packages, but with DSL you have the benifit of a fairly consistant data quality (either your lines suck and thus your packet loss, jitters, and so forth increase, or your actual physical line is wired well and your service is not bad). With cellular data you have a huge number of variables that could cause your data experience to suck.

I think that is one of the reasons why carriers are looking at VoIP solutions over wifi, even if they do have a good data service. Well that, and WiFi costs them nothing while data costs them more than their voice service.

el-chupageek

Just as any other Apple product, it's locked to iTunes, it doesn't support full DVD quality DivX, XviD, Mpeg2, WMV, AC3, vbr-mp3, RM, Mpeg1, Ogg Theora, GVI.. It only synchs through iTunes, forget about copying some files from a random computer that doesn't have iTunes installed. No TV-out, no TV-in.

Other than being locked to iTunes, now you are locked on an outdated 2G data service plan and you are forced by law to continue paying for that data service for two years. Minimum price is 2000$ in all. Even if there are 3G, WiMax alternatives already available or imminent, every iPhone owner is forced to stay on a crappy data service network and are forced to keep paying for EDGE for two years even if one quickly gets tired of such a slow bandwidth (after like 5 minutes of browsing on EDGE speed you get sick of it and probably won't like to do it again ever) Thus this is gonna be just an expensive WiFi browser with an EDGE service plan nobody needs but are forced to pay for.

Also it's locked so you cannot do VOIP, nor IM and low quality Javascript support means lots of Web 2.0 apps are never going to work on this.

Charbax

Ok. So there are some counterpoints to be made. Some of them have already been made. Nearly ever caveat listed here has a factual counterpoint.

4. "No instant messaging" is simply false. People are developing iChat equivalents via Safari for the iPhone. One such is already functional.

6. EDGE *is* about as slow as 56k dial-up. However, most of the bottleneck has to do with the backends, not the actual technology. As they continue to install T1 lines, EDGE will continue to get faster.

As for not having actual application support (a big deal for me), you need to learn how to use Google better. The hackers have started, and they are hauling ass on this one. See their wiki.

Rather than going point by point, suffice to say that all the shit you have listed is being worked on. Right now. As we argue.

The capabilities are all there... and you do NOT need to wait for iPhone 2.0 for these problems to disappear since the upgrades will be soft (with the exception of the EDGE infrastructure upgrades, which still don't require iPhone 2.0).

Hadius

How about sync-able Notes? Ideally Notes with a drag-able checklist/outliner like was on Apple's insanely great Newton Notes (for screenshot & description see
1. True, but buying new $10.00 headphones is laughable with my $600 iphone purchase.

2. Opinion. I hated cingular, but I work for a rival cell company. Believe me, to some one, all of us are evil.

3. Very true and a good point. Rumor has it that video recording will be coming soon with some video effects added to it.

4. Also supposed to be a version of ichat for it very soon.

5. It is in the process of upgrading these features to better suit businesses.

6. Sure it is. You assume everyone has 40GB of media. I have 16 GB, but currently only having an ipod nano, this is more than a "full replacement" for me and many others. Games will surely follow soon....

7. Yes it is. Developing apps for it? Slow down there turbo, it's like 6 days old!

8. Slow compared to what? Cable at home? Ohter carriers data? Yes. If this is a problem, carry around a laptop. I have the paitance to enjoy the internet in my pocket, even if it is a little slower....

9. Also rumored to be coming.

10. Not yet. Sources close to Apple say that soon you will be able to make any song in your itunes library a ringtone. for .99 . WOWZA!

The truth is that this device does have short comings. All of which are being addressed, and all of which are going to be upgraded for free. I work at a rival cell phone carrier and get a free phone and free service. I will be buying an iphone. The day of iphones release EDGEs speeds almost quadrupled. Plus AT&T Just bought out another carrier and alot of their towers.....progress takes time, but AT&T and Apple are moving fast...

system6

@nojo:
Some reason a lot of Apple users can't become dissatisfied with Apple no matter what. I used to work in an Apple certified tech shop and I would get people who just received their computer and it was dead on arrival. They call up Apple and they just tell them where the closest repair center is and to take it there for repairs which can take up to 2 weeks instead of sending them a new one. These people always came in happy about repairing their computer that they never even got to turn on yet. MS can release an update with an insignificant bug that gets fixed within hours and everyone will be ready to disown them and jump down their throat. Take that for what it is, but I there are a lot of Apple customers that get poor customer service, but accept it because it's coming from Apple. I also can't tell you how many people were sent to our store from Apple's CSR line to get iPod repairs even though Apple never allowed us to handle anything to do with broken iPods. Those people would drive all the way down to use only to have us turn them right back to Apple and they would do so without batting an eye about it.

Darkest Daze

some time ago i wrote about the motorola RIZR and had some initial complaints. however, i must say that i held on to the phone and have been really happy with it. and compared to the iPhone the RIZR actually competes quite well. it handles instant messaging, MMS, and SMS well. it plays MP3s of higher bit rates than are specified (though the java app for music playing is slow to load). it records video and it takes photos that i imagine are just as good as those on the iPhone. plus, it's on the t-mobile network (no complaints here). what am i saying? i'm saying that until the iPhone (or something else) has a point-and-shoot-worthy camera and can run third-party apps and games AND still be a rockin' phone on ANY network, i'm going to wait to buy it. won't be long. i love my apple laptop but apple hasn't given me any reason to even buy an iPhone, much less an iPod.

adg045

Oh, you mean my response to the gentleman who reported with astonishing specificity about "tons of complaints" with Apple software? Dude didn't sound like a Linux geek.

But out of curiosity, I did pay a visit to the "American Consumer Satisfaction Index," run out of the Michigan School of Business...

Apple: 83%
Microsoft: 70%

Any large software company is going to endure "tons of complaints" -- comes with the territory. But you need to compare those with overall satisfaction to get something meaningful.
STFU Zippy. You are only looking stupid by counting on all of Iphone's short comings getting fixed with future software releases. ". And it does not do VOIP. VOIP is big but since it is a phone with unlimited net, maybe AT&T would not be happy if everybody kept yapping on VOIP and pay for minimum $59.99 plan"

EDGE cannot support VoIP. There is a reason why the second highest QoS priority is Voice, second only to emergency and mission critical traffic. The network requirements of VoIP are not sufficient for a 2G network. You could feasibly do VoIP over WiFi (WM can with various third party apps, and WM 6 supports VoIP natively over wifi, however no carriers have the feature enabled), but with the anemic minute plans offered by AT&T for use with the iPhone I think it is safe to assume they want you simply upgrading to a more expensive rate plan.

el-chupageek

"Whereas Microsoft sets an industry standard for secure, bug-free computing.
It's the start of the month. Hope your virus defs are updated, dude."

Way to take a thread trying to keep people's expectations of the iPhone in sync with reality and providing information to those on the fence about the device (it's surprising, but some of us actually wanted to see the market realities of the device first) and try and turn it into an anti-MS thread. Well, hey, I will bite and throw one back at you. MS certainly does better than Apple right now, which has been patching on average more than 20 security vulnerabilities per month, though they made progress in May, down to a year low of 17, only 5 of which were remote execute vulnerabilities, and none of them actually older than 50 days since disclosure. Whereas Vista has a mere fraction of that, with faster turnaround, despite having an order of magnitude more scrutiny. So moral of the story, only bring up unrelated flame bate if you are actually standing on the high ground jackass.

The user you responded to actually did have a valid point that, while several things are hypothetically addressable via software, Apple hasn't always had the greatest track record delivering updates (for example, iTunes on Vista still is a very dodgy experience to many, myself included, despite Vista shipping to businesss and developers in November). These things are not simply mitigated because at some arbitrary, and possibly non-existant, time in the future Apple might choose to fix them. For people considering the phone but find that one or more items above is a deal breaker for a $500~$600 device they are better off being made aware of the problems now and holding off until such time as the deal breakers are addressed.

Unrelated, for the commentor that suggests IT departments use IMAP (or should that be iMap), that is such a ridiculous response. Exchange push, when well implemented, beats the pants off of IMAP any day of the week. For people using enterprise email, until exchange push is implemented the iPhone is not a viable alternitive (which doesn't mean it wouldn't make a great personal phone).

el-chupageek

Cram it. You are getting way too worked up over a gadget.

Don't like the current power structure? What are you going to do about it? Whine about how you have no power in government? How your voice doesn't count? That's not DOING. That's making an excuse.

You're a big, bad owner of a manufacturing plant? How about giving money to the campaign of a candidate whose views you agree with? Or volunteer your time?

Talk is cheap. Put your money where your mouth is and stop supporting the supposed evil empire that you say AT&T is. Otherwise, as I said, cram it.

God made the pretty girls pretty because he likes them more

Not sure why you are getting personal, man, you are calling me small-minded because I offended your gadget? YOU ARE A MORON.
Besides, I don't care what iPhone can do with a software update. I care about what it does now. And it does not do VOIP. VOIP is big but since it is a phone with unlimited net, maybe AT&T would not be happy if everybody kept yapping on VOIP and pay for minimum $59.99 plan. And since no 3rd party software can be installed, chances are there will be no VOIP.
By the way ZIPPYZ: Imagine going to a car dealer and buying a car. A salesman tells you: "this car can even have A/C and a radio with a software upgrade if and when the manufacturer releases one!". You would buy that car, wouldn't you Zippy boy?

szyszek

I am actually quite happy with my RAZR V3i...yeah, i know everyone poo-pooed it, BUT NOW I am not so sure. It has iTunes, and is basically a NANO also. And for just around $30 I am up to 4 GB of storage for songs, the same 800 songs that the 4GB iPhone can store. SO WHAT IF I HAVE TO CHANGE MICRO SD CARDS, it is a LOT cheaper!

AND MY BLUETOOTH WORKS GREAT! Not crippled at all. AND I CAN USE OPERA (EVEN THE NEW BETA 4 VERSION), that is also a real internet experience. AND I CAN WATCH MOVIES ON IT! It does ALL the iPhone can do AND MORE...it has a fairly decent 1.3 megapixel camera WITH 8X ZOOM that also does small videos, MMS, corporate email etc. Maybe not as pretty or glitzy, but it works, and the battery is GREAT AS WELL AS REPLACEABLE.

People screamed it wasn't a real; APPLE experience..now they have one, and it ain't that great. It sounds like Cell Phone Version 1.0 in an attractive package. But it ISN'T WORTH $500 or $600 folks! People have been ripped off, let's face it. There are plenty of GREAT cell phones that do SO MUCH MORE OUT THERE already, and far better than what I have (the V3i), which is really fine for what it does by the way. HEY, I CAN EVEN ATTACH THE V3i TO MY CAR STEREO THROUGH A CASSETTE ADAPTER...iPhone doesn't work that way. WHAT THE....???

Someone rushed this to market, and blew it I think. WHERE IS THE REVOLUTION...A TOUCH PAD (for as long as it retains it's sensitivity a cool idea...but remember about PALM screens!!)

I am sorry, but after using everything from a basic phone to a SMARTPHONE to the in-between like the V3i, I think the iPhone is a gimmick..a basic, glitzy phone with the APPLE name that suckered people in and will leave them hanging.

juliusa

@klew:

Klew...really show me any place where it implies it.
You saw that commercial and thought wow it has GPS. But it didnt state it had gps you assumed it.

Now if you have an iphone try this.

click maps
select zoom in to your city down far enough to see 15 blocks near you.
now hit search and type in PIZZA

holy smokes does that not look exactly like it did on the ad.

YUP!

klew ask yourself if it had GPS they would has said it did. That would have made the ads and the presentation.

if you really believe they mislead you then there is a money making lawsuit waiting...i like i believe any judge would say after looking at and reading about the iphone would say NO they made no false claims. They did not imply anything other than exactly what the device will do!

Seriously i just did it for my little hick town and it showed me all 15 of the pizza joints in town.

I can use this information even if i was in LA or Bangkok i could navigate my way with a map and pins and info about the pins thoughtfully provided.

Im sorry you wanted GPS. Heck that would be killer. It doesnt....but that evidently doesnt keep some people from thinking/believeing it does.

Lets try this again...IT DOES EXACTLY WHAT THEY HAVE PROMISED.

It is people who are making it more / less than what it is.

Thats the part thats pissing me off...surprise surprise....i like the concept of people but people fark that up! :)

/plus its monday!
I don't think I will trust that these things will be fixed by software, like every keeps saying, until it actually happens. Apple seems to rather just release a new revision for people to buy then to add stuff to older models. I'm sure some of the lacked features will makes it's way in, but I think one of the reasons that there isn't an SDK to work directly with the hardware is to prevent people from adding features they want on their own. Apple would rather add the features they want, and leave the rest as a bullet point reason to buy the new version in a year. I could be wrong, but that is a strong reason for them to only give you web apps instead of direct access to the system.

Darkest Daze

I have to admit, I'm an Apple Fanboy. I have a Macbook Pro, a Dual G5 w/20" cinema display, and I'm on my second iPod. Don't worry, this isn't a pissing match. My point is that as a fanboy, even I am leary about the iPhone. Sure, it's sexy, it's innovative, but it's missing a lot of things that I really want and have had previously with my Treo 650, and currently with my Crackberry Curve. Such as: support for 3rd party apps, a good camera, video support, MMS support, custom/MP3 ringtones, GPS, and so on.

What I'm really anxious for is to see how this device affects the market in terms of better design/usability for cell phones and even direct Mac compatibility. Needless to say, I'm waiting for a 2nd Gen iPhone to see how they improve it. Remember, this is the first generation, the second is bound to be better, right?

drwedge

Actually, my experience with AT&T's customer service has been excellent this year, not just for wireless service but also for landline and internet elite service (both work perfectly). Their call center people are actually really friendly and helpful. I cannot talk about AT&T stores, though, as I've never set foot there. Anyway, AT&T is not as bad as people like to portray it. As for them being more evil than Verizon or T-Mobile, I don't know. Methinks all of them are in it to maximize return on investment.

jmdecombe

to Zippy, you may be jumping to conclusions too quickly to defend the iPhone. Like everyone, I did read the specs, then when I saw the commercial, I wondered how it could tell you where the closest anything is if it couldn't know your present location. To the general, non-blog reading audience, the television commercial implies that it has GPS.

klew

BTW, I know AT&Tingular gets a lot of crap about being evil. However, there are a few good people that are on AT&T. I want to commend them on that. I had a tiny bit of a problem with my iphone, and I called into customer service. The person I spoke to wasn't an expert in the iphone--even told me to take out the battery, but she was patient and kind. That's what's important to me. Together, we found out the solution. I like that.

Good and Patient customer service is better and more important to me than someone who is super knowledgable and acts like an iditot.

So, I know that some people in AT&T are trying. For those of you who are, thank you. Your subscribers are greatful. For those of you at AT&T who are idiots, go work at McDonalds in the back where no one can see or hear you! (no offense to McD's)

nosauten

AT&T is evil? Kinda harsh don't we think. They've been great to me over the past 5 years. No complaints here. Does AT&T + Jobs make them different? They've been better to me than Sprint, and my buddy with Verizon is pretty unhappy with them. Plus they don't cripple phones like Sprint/Verizon do - leaving many of the original features intact - which is great. Apple/AT&T crippled the iPhone, but most other phones can be tethered and have real bluetooth stacks including file transfer ability.

targatop

I'm sure I can't be the first to point this out, but ATT doesn't offer insurance on this phone. I was amazed to find out that I wasn't able to purchase insurance for my Cingular 8525, due to the fact that it was too expensive. I figured that would be the perfect reason to pay for the insurance. So when I thought I would get an iPhone, I asked the same question about the insurance, and sure enough, ATT doesn't offer insurance on these things. I can understand that the manufacturers warranty is in place, but it only covers you for half of the 2 year contract your forced to sign. Why is that?!?!?

webbehr

Apple's strength has always been 1) it's intuitive UI (my primary reason for liking Macs), 2) its design and 3) it's "cool" factor.

Apple's stuff rarely is the fastest, most powerful, most feature rich, most expandable, most flexible, most agnostic, etc.

So this is typical Apple- nothing more, nothing less.

That said- there seems to be plent of room for growth in V2.

ARP

Wow...so many people have to go outta their way to say the iphone sucks...and most of you dont even have one yetyour sure they suck.

As for email...IMAP was the only thing i wanted for my companies use. Its how we like our email. Oh and when i tell IT this is how we are doing it. They either get it done or find new jobs. Im the owner of my manufacturing plant....Its good to be the king!

Flash support...um..not needed for my needs.
GPS...nice but not needed....I generally know where im at. Maybe you need a keeper if you dont know where you are at.

Video making on a phone....dont make me slap you. I have a razor...and yes it can shoot a small video. The video picture is CRAP but hey seems like a lot of you haters with your 5 year old "does everything the iphone does" (no it doesnt idjit) may like crappy video.

Heck even the analysts and journalists specializing in this market have NO IDEA about the screen... all they can say is its better than anything anyone has ever seen.

Oh and the #11 posted above about email. simply click the letters down the right hand side to jump down the list.

Keep bashing Apple and its products....if you say it enough times....it still wont make it true.

So far the phone delivers exactly as promised.

Oh and one more thing. APPLE never said it had GPS...now your just trying to make shit up to try to make them look bad. Shame on you.

Sounds like to me there are a lot of jealous little bitches out there. I mean really do i belittle you becuase you bought the cheaper notebook or run an older phone no....but for some reason because you cant afford an iphone you think you must slam it. What a bunch of whinning little bitches.

Oh and be sure to stick to your eat shit attitudes....but in a few years we will all look back and see how Apple forever changed and improved the cell phone business.

ATT is evil. Just like every other phone company! If you dont understand that then you need a basic course in how phone companies operate and their BS raping of the public.

I think everyone forgets about a big one: VOIP. There is no VOIP and there is no way to install it, right? No Skype. No IM. So the iPhone is an Internet VIEWER (like PDF or Word viewer) and a slow one too. I love the design, but underneath its fancy skin it is just a fricking viewer with an ability to play songs and reach out and touch someone like any cellphone out there. On the other hand, SFOKEVIN says it gets you laid... SFOKEVIN, did you do it with the 4gb one or you had to show the Big One (8gb) to your date?

szyszek

@Flashgordon: With certain area exceptions, T-Mobile delivers better (or at least as good) signal as AT&T, usually at a cheaper price. Their $5.99 Unlimited WAP plan can be used to access any sort of data with just a little tweaking. MyFaves makes it even better. Finally, their customer service is the best in the US. Don't believe me on that one? Ask J.D. Power.

bluemonq

This jesus phone reminds me of the larger than life hugly oversized feet of the "Paris" chick. At one time all new was about the over sized feet girl, just like the Jesus Phone. Come on guys...Now you are talking.

I'll sell my LD 4400 (five years old and still work) to anyone stupid enough to shell out 600 bucks for an ATT sucker phone.

The article is correct and right on point. ATT sucks and they are a gang of theives.

Ever try upgrading your contract with more minutes? You'll be whopped with a disconnection charge, whopped again with a new contract, pay all your balance and they; YES they require three (3) months advance payment.

Fact is if ATT was the only provider I'd rather not own a cell phone.

11. Contact list is not searchable using keypad. In other words, you have to scroll to find every damn contact you want - there's no typing the name and it popping up. It does have some keyboard interface when you are sending an SMS, but not when you are using the phone.

BZATWORK

I just don't understand what was so hard of taking all the features of a PDA and put a cell phone in it too. My current HP HX2495 can do all that stuff on a platform that is easily able to be supported by 3rd parties with apps that fill the gaps in functionality. I can also add storage/devices through Bluetooth or the SD and CF slots.

If they had taken all of the features of something like my HP and added a cell phone to it, instead of taking a phone (with all of it's limitations) and adding some PDA features, I would be extremely tempted to buy it. My phone and PDA would cost about $500-600 when bought separately so that would make the iPhone a steal. It may have been AT&T that made the limited features a must for the contract, but if that's so, then that's another reason they would of been better not restricting it to one carrier. Hopefully though, this will bring out devices that combine the 2 successfully without taking all the features that would make this a perfect device.

Darkest Daze

I have been a longtime AT&T customer (actually AT&T then Cingular then AT&T again). But aside from minor coverage issues in the small town where I live and near a military base I drive by regularly and some annoying policies (re: you cannot take rollover minutes if you switch to a lower plan and charging EDGE PDAs more for DATA than than 3G video phones using the same exact network) I would say that it has not been too bad. Or I should say no worse than any other carrier. Is there some really good carrier with great coverage, low rates, and nice customer service that I am missing out on. I have never heard of one.

FlashGordon

Well...Jesus couldn't record videos either. =)

You know, I've stayed out of this iPhone comment attack thing. But honestly, damn guys, in this day and age, if they want to glorify the iPhone, or diss it completely, whether you're desperate for one or hate it..let it freaking be!

Everyone can choose what they want to buy, sure the coverage is huge, but nobody is literally forcing anyone to accept their ideas about the phone. Just let everyone think what they want to think instead of attacking each other about a piece of technology.

Iggy

at this point nobody really looks at the actual features of the product anymore. they decided a long time ago that they will either support the iphone unconditionally while living in a state of denial, or they will hold a personal vendetta against the phone. those of us left in the middle just have to wait this out until it blows over in a few days.

Angus
