yea, dont even waste your money on buying a vaporizer that isn't a volcano. trust me. I've gone through a couple... get the volcano. other vaporizers are just annoying and a pain in the ass to use. the volcano is easy and its just much better to deal with for the money.

I know I'm a bit late to the game here,
but while the Volcano is indeed a fine piece of machinery,
it is *not* good for the single smoker.
It's great for get-togethers,
but it puts out *way* too much vapor for one person,
even if that person is Cheech Marin or Snoop Dogg.

Bill never inhaled, but that didn't stop me from trying to develop the Atomic Bong using a Sparkletts bottle and a vacuum pump. Dang carbide drills kept cracking the glass. Yeah, that's how long ago it was; Sparkletts bottles were being made out of glass.

Surprised I can still remember. Careful with them vapors. It's clear now that the high times were from being with friends not from messing up perception with them vapors.

One thing to keep in mind while considering the price of this device is that vaporizing is about 4x as efficient as smoking. That means that the purchase price of this unit will be amortized once you've purchased a certain amount of....uh....vaporizables, :D depending on your local supply-and-demand situation.

I have a vaporizer amoung many other gadgets and it really does work. It doesn't burn like smoke and it is much more "efficient." It brings out the true taste of your vaporizables, basically what you taste is what your vaporizables smell like. It even makes low quality vaporizables produce an effect which is more like high quality vaporizables. Its a truly great gadget and mine has a permanent spot on the table beside my ibook.

I know everyone is throwing out their own 2 cents on which vape is best, but I've seen the Volcano and it has too many freakin parts. Its too expensive and apparently breaks easily from what I've heard.

The AroMed one looks awesome but $400? You've got to be kidding me.

The Silver Surfer is probably the best one I've ever used. It doesnt have a stupid temperature gauge but every "plant" is different and requires a different oxidation temp anyway.

Thats BS that you can't "see" smoke. Technically its not smoke. Its vapor, the higher the concentration of "consumables" in the plant, the more the vapor. GOOD stuff makes lots of vapor.

Trust me on this one. SSV FTW.

Is this one of the ones with plastic parts? Supposedly the plastic ones are a bad buy because at the temperature the machine requires to do its thing, the plastic can release bad vapors into your lungs along with your choice of herbal inhalant mixture.

Gizmodo, you're going to drive Engadget out of business. And rightfully so!

Vaporizers deserve a lot more attention. A lot of people in the 12 states where medical marijuana laws exist should have access to the technology.

The important thing about the vaporizers is that there is no tar, and no carbon monoixde. A lot of the perceived effects of marijuana actually come from oxygen deprivation as you inhale the CO.

I own the vapezilla as well as the Volcano. I've built several of my own crude vaporizers and have tested this one, along with a few others mentioned in this thread. I've experienced A'dam about 25 times in the last 4 years, and have seen many other variations on interesting vaporizing techniques. They all work to varying extent, the real bottom line is in the craftmanship and materials used. Both variables will determine the efficiency/effectiveness and, most importantly, the health quality of the vapor in the given device. Vapezilla (whip based) and Volcano (balloon) are the best in terms of health and quality. (price $$ ignored). Vapezilla is my daily tool, the volcano is nice for parties. Gizmodo just took a few steps up in coolness factor for me, vs. engadget...

First off, I would like to apologise for my requested username looking like its merely site recognition spam. It's not, I promise. That's just my user name that I use everywhere. And the last thing I think you would want from your commenters would be to go a changin'. I mean, you just want us to be ourselves right? Anyways, that's my explanation for that.

Now, as for why I think I would be a great commenter for you, I would have to answer that question with a four-part reply:

1) I know how to speak and type english somewhat well.
2) I check your site almost every three hours so I am totally dedicated to you unlike that other shithole gadget site that isn't good enough to sleep with my dog on the floor.
3) I don't swear a lot. That is unless I am walking back to my desk and stub my toe or spill coffee on my crotch and THEN read Gizmodo in a pissed-off state that will only lead to a more angrier comment than normal.
4) I have LOADS of spare time to brush up on my wit and I only think it will payoff for you in the end. The commenter-approval payoff dividend is weighed highly in your favour here as a) it costs you nothing to approve me, b) you can break out the Ban-o-tron 4000 Elite™ anytime you wish and c) sometimes I'm just slapnuts funny.
