Microsoft needs to focus on making an OS that runs low system memory. Leaving the access memory to the user. Like Mac, although I do not own a Mac. I find them user friendly. My 99 year old grandma with probably 1.5 functioning brain cells left tho I love her dearly could turn on a Mac and know how to use it in less then a week. Vista needs to be put on a machine that has endless amounts of memory. The OS it self in like 10 gigs. Microsoft needs to make its own line a computers. The company would profit, even though they don't need to. Maybe Windows 7 will make the breakthrough for Microsoft. XP is still my favorite. Probably because i grew up with it for most of my teen years using a computer. I'm not a computer wiz/nerd but in my book vista blows because of its crappy memory usage

1. UI, why can you change the color of the menu bar but not the bars RIGHT underneath so that the only color that looks good is the default.
1a. it's ugly. It really is, and I can prove it beyond opinion. Just apply this tip and it will look way better (so it must be uglier now). TIP: right click on desktop, click on personalize, then appearance, the little link on the bottom called advanced or something like that, then click advanced on the one tab appearance window that comes up (don't get me started on one tab windows) then in items, find "border padding" and set it to 1, then find "active title bar and set it to 21 and apply changes all the way out. It will look way better.
2. It doesn't work coherently. It is almost kludge-like in operation, things only take after about 2 reboots, don't believe me? Follow my tip...
3. Start menu, so they make a search and you don't have to do anything about the organization of the start menus. I mean a stack of randomly named folder, and then put all your 15 new apps in the root, lazy.
4. "Third party drivers" this excuse that 3rd party things don't work isn't Ms's fault is insane. Windows only works on 3rd party things, if it doesn't work on 3rd party devices, where does it work?
...running out of time but in conclusion there are many things that may not be easy to articulate but almost anything you do in vista has some sort of inconsistency or frustration involved and it is quite sad, mainly because I am that guy that is trying to build a digital home and ms has all the products, they just refuse to make them work.

We both run Vista. She didn't show up until the last minute, and I plug my external back in just in time as guests started to arrive. Unfortunately, I gave up on trying to make it work after about twenty minutes. Some problem with whose profile "owned" the photos. It was a pain that I didn't have time to deal with and be hostess.

And thats just one example of interface choices that are form over function. In XP, everything was ugly. If it was hated, it was due to spyware and viruses.

Those aren't the Vista complaints though. Vista is annoying because it bugs you constantly and the interface is utter crap.

I have Vista alongside Leopard, and I have to say, Vista is laughable in comparison in terms of interface design. Sure, there are things about Vista I like over XP. But nothing that makes it better enough to switch. I had to reinstall Windows anyways, so I figured, I have this free copy of Vista sitting here, might as well switch now. And I'm content. But I wouldn't be if I actually used Windows more than I do.

That all being said, the one thing that drives me GODDAMNED BATSHIT INSANE is that folders don't remember their view preferences. Or, if you go into the folder view dialogue and say "view every folder like this one forever until the end of time" -- which used to work beautifully in XP -- Vista will often give you a folder view based on what it thinks is best for you. It's bullshit and stupid and god damn all I want is for all of my folders to be in list view.

Other than that, I find it perfectly usable.

Every other FPS needs a keyboard and a mouse, and thus a desk, and therefore an actual chair. An FPS on the couch with two nipple-sticks for all orientation is like sex in the shower.

Great in theory, extremely awkward and unrewarding in practice.

Switch to PCs. If Jobs will lets you.

Unfortunately for me, even though my Lappy fits well within the given specs to run the likes of TF2 it has become apparent that my video card does not play nice with the Source Engine.
