		    <description><![CDATA[<p>@<a href="#c3153675">singfoom</a>: Licensing fees are a big reason hardware manufacturers and media companies won't use certain codecs. This is a problem with DivX and a big reason XviD exists, correct? MP3 is a shining example of an inferior codec WITH licensing fees that everybody insists on continuing to use (if you're going to go lossy why not at least AAC?)</p>
<p>As for which codec to use instead: I don't see much problem with h.264 in an mp4 container. PS3, PSP, and any Apple product will be fine with that. Do Microsoft products have a problem with this combo?</p> <p>Padriac</p>]]></description>

Of course there's not a pirate contract by definition.  What codecs would you suggest?  WMV or some other closed garden codec like it?  Your line of logic can also be used to ask the question of why aren't the hardware manufacturers and media companies enabling all codecs and releasing media in all codecs. <P>I have U-Verse right now which is IPTV. AT&amp;T uses Microsoft's IPTV software to run their product/service/network.</P>
