again, just like everytime there is an EEE blog. It is an UMPC. it is small some pay for that. that is 15.4?
I'd rather have a full PC, but that is a different market.

The mod is cool for having a pretty fast USB stick acting as an HDD but the cost is ridiculous considering the cost for today's laptops.

NOT an advertisement for Dell but here's one with a T5270 Dual Core cpu, 2GB ram, 120GB HDD for $599 (free shipping)

Oh, I forgot about the BT part, but uh you can get a micro one for $20 bucks now-a-days.

By USB memory im assuming you mean a usb HDD? because of course you get all the benefits of being flash based if you use flash memory (?) so.... im further assuming that you're wondering what impact going through USB has as opposed to having the memory hard soldered, and ill answer by saying its about half as slow to go through usb.

N810 VS Eee PC

400MHz OMAP / 900MHz Celeron
2GB Usable Memory / 2GB Usable Memory
Touchscreen / Bigger screen
Looks cooler / Looks feminine
Slider keyboard / Flip open bigger keyboard
Geek cred / Chick cred
Longer Battery Life / Better than most laptops
Very small form factor / Not so small
GPS / No GPS

The hardware upgrading is not for the faint hearted on the Eee PC or the N810 so it can't even count as a factor.

N810 for me since I already have a laptop.

I'd say tnkgirl's mod is a bit more thoughtful as she located the bluetooth dongle in relation to the case with no shielding and thus probably has better range than this mod. I did a similar mod of adding a tiny hub to accommodate a usb wifi dongle and a bluetooth dongle internally in my Sony VAIO picturebook of yore. My bluetooth range is horrible because I did not think things through. I hate having my stereo bluetooth headset cutting off after just walking a few steps away from my computer.

silly questions . . . is usb memory that much faster than SATA HDD memory? Are you getting all the advantages of being flash based?

I think the first person to do the Bluetooth hack was tnkgrl, though I think she chose to wire it directly to the motherboard instead of actually adding two USB ports. The USB ports are a nice addition since it makes it much easier to upgrade in the future, obviously.
