@Fountainhead: i certainly wouldn't say "most folks". i suspect that actually the majority of psp owners not only have factory firmware, but have never even run a firmware update unless forced to do so and probably didn't even know there was such a thing up to that point. personally i have a 1st gen psp (bought day 2 of release week) with the factory firmware. i have very little interest in the homebrew stuff on either it or the ds.
i also like the psp browser, although parts of it (like text entry) are a bit clumsy. i'd put it with the iphone speedwise on a wifi connection but not with ease of use. while i'm not a giant fan of the psp control layout, i can't say it's ever made my hands hurt.

@arkowi: The trouble is battery life. Though I haven't used the 1seg tuner, all the USB-key-sized ATSC tuners I've used get quite warm, so probably use a significant amount of USB power. (and probably processing power too, since they pass through HDTV.) The 1seg tuner doesn't need to process (and doesn't require the host to process) nearly as many bits - it's not HDTV.

I love the PSP web browser. Checking fantasy scores on the shitter is one of life's little joys. Great display and navigation and decent speed. Right up there with the iPhone in my opinion.

@Fountainhead: You've got to be kidding. If you have a hard time holding a PSP and squeezing the buttons, you either have tiny hands or a severe physical disability.

And plenty of us still use factory firmware. Not all of us find much use in the homebrew software to date, and there are plenty of other ways to play old games via emulation, both legally and illegally.

If this was available in the US, I'd be all over it.

Surf the internet with a PSP? It's a joke. Play a game with that big thing on top? It's hard enough to hold it and squeeze the buttons without adding that to it. Besides, most folks don't even run factory firmware on their PSP. I bet this thing would only run with a factory ROM installed.

are there any portable TV's in the US with ATSC digital tuners?

i easily pick up all the major networks, and several other channels with the digital tuner on my HDTV, using only very small antenna (one that could easily fit on a portable TV.
