A skilled Indian fighter kite flyer can fly kites indoors, and Indian fighter kites are hundreds if not thousands of years old.

BTW flying kites indoors is a lot of work and very demanding of skills. The idea that it would be easier for disabled people is just wrong.
Think about it, all the work that the wind was doing to lift the kite and string has to be done by the kiteflyer, and having to pump energy into the kite as well as steer it at the same time is a lot harder.

You seriously sound like the guys who claim that the white man is keeping them down.

Quit feeling sorry for yourself and get some thicker skin. Not every comment about a disabled person is aimed at you or your family.

There are people with disabilities that require them to stay indoors. I don't think Gizmodo was trying to imply that we should keep all disabled people inside, but rather just that this could be a fun thing for those people who don't have the option of going out.

Why exactly does the ability to fly it indoors make it ideal for people with disabilities? Are you insinuating that we should keep them indoors hidden from the rest of society?

Sorry, I'm sure you meant nothing of the sort but my sister is in a wheelchair and probably will be her whole life, so I tend to get very defensive about this sort of thing. But my point is the same minus the hostility. My family and I try to bring her out and about and keep her integrated into the fabric of society as much as possible. Why shouldn't people with disabilities be allowed to continue living normal lives?
