Interesting side note; flash storage capacity growth is fairly on par with traditional technological growth patterns, but when we master 3 dimensional flash storage technics; we would suddenly see the development of drives with hundreds of terabytes and even petabytes of storage in a reasonably short amount of time.
Imagine carrying around a thumb drive with 250TB of storage. Sounds far-fetched, but do you remember when MBs of system storage in a PC was a big deal.

Hitachi Drive (note hole placement)
MCB15 hard drive cable - it would cover the hole.
MCB17 hard drive cable - the bigger one doesn't have the problem.

JohnnyAbnormal - I'd recommend just making sure you don't cover the hole. It looks like double-sided stick tape was used there; just move it to where the hole isn't. Without the tape, it would be hard to block the hole - it doesn't need to be too big to equalize the pressure.

The ribbon cable that goes over the top of the hard drive is designed for a Seagate drive and will cover up the breather hole on Hitachi drives. I tried to put a 200 GB 7200 RPM Hitachi into my first gen MBP a while back, and it didn't work well.
