Oh well, I needed an old fashioned upscaling DVD player anyway, so I guess im only out about a hundred bucks if you consider what I would have spent anyway.

Let me know when this hits 399. I think that will be the sweet spot. Sub 200 for the stand alone BluRay players.

FOr those that need both formats and cannot use a two-system solution (e.g. port shortages), this price beats BD + HD + new AVR handily. The UP5000 at $750 is also a good deal right now, assuming those updates happen. This announcement seems to indicate Samsung is still in the game.

Technologically, I never saw any reason for a combo player to cost more than two individual players...worst case scenario, you've got two complete distinct systems in there that read from the same optical drive and output to the same outputs -- where's the extra cost come from?
