Since SC-HMX20C supports full high definition (1920x1080), it requires a high performance PC like other camcorders to edit videos. However, HMX20C itself has a video file editing feature such as splitting a video file into two files, concatenating two files into one, and deleting a section of a video file. SC-HMX20C is a great product.

I actually like this. I think the design is simpler than other camcorders too...
I think the specs are pretty nice but there is the catch: the price...

@Eugenia: Agreed 100%. When it comes to the quality of the video captured, the successor to the HV20 is the hot ticket.

either it'll use half a terabyte of flash storage just to turn on, or it won't turn on at all.

So is the video easily editable or is it like those damn HD cameras that use the stupid AVC codec that can't be edited without a super computer and takes forever to transcode?

Why can't someone make a flash based 1080p/24p supporting camera that outputs to Mpeg4 that can be easily edited in iMovie/Final Cut Express/Adobe Premier Elements on a computer that people can actually afford?

I basically want the Canon HV20 and not have to wait to record the video off of the tape.

So, no filter thread, no manual focus ring, no 1080/24p. I will still wait or the next major Canon lineup (not their new flash-based ones, but the successor of the HV20).

I'm a little curious about which compression format Sammy's using on this puppy. 1080P is not known for being the smallest files known to man. Overall, pretty neat, but makes me a little suspicious.
