I also predict it will be well into the three figures (after taxes, ie possibly $199) per month for a tier of service that actually offers noticeable performance over EVDO. Don't forget that Sprint is the only nationwide provider of 3G data (Verizon doesn't count because the restrictions placed on their service render it unusable). Sprint's already charging $60 a month for EVDO, so WiMAX is gonna have to be a hell of a lot more.

markarian

This is great, but (let's assume) with an 'outrageous' price point and limited roll-out, who's their target market segment?

One can get 3.6Mb from AT&T's 3G offering for ~$20/month, and Verizon offers 20M/5M fiber for $50.

Though, having the competition is good....

Phineas J. Whoopie

I predict based on conversations with execs at WiMAX World in chicago that the price will start at $29.99-39.99...WiMAX for Sprint is to compete with both 3G and fixed line offerings. Sprint does not own any last mile infrastructure, hence they will price it closer to the current entry level pricing of ADLS and Cable.

mackmother

I predict a 99.99 price point. Who else offers 3g type service? I'd love to get an HSPDA or WiMax module for my everun. If coverage was everywhere (or at least very widespread) and unlimited data transfer I could see shelling out 50 bones no problem. Then I'd just get rid of my Comcast bill.

Brookespeed
