No more requiring the base for the USB connection (that change alone justifies this camera). Only question is quality of indoor poor light shooting - apparently some the other Sony HDs have had some suckage with that.

Canon releases the first $900 1080p camcorder with the Canon Vixia HF10. Sony does not want to put 1080p in consumer HD camcorders yet cause they want to force semiprofetionnals in buying the $5000 and plus semiprofetionnal models for that feature.

A progressive HD camcorder is much better than interlaced. Hopefully the Canon 1080p camcorder will force Sony and Panasonic to unlock the 1080p and 720p modes on their AVCHD camcorders.
