I had heard that Safari converts the HTML to an un-editable state (like a graphic) once the page is rendered on the iPhone. I actually think whoever stated it is probably wrong (there's no real way to check as you couldn't select the text anyway), but if it IS true, then it would make sense that Apple doesn't want to advertise that fault/flaw, rather just happening to not mention that there is no copy and paste. However this is me relaying second-hand knowledge so if I'm wrong don't shoot me.

RoCKSTaH53

Anybody who has real GPS on their phone will NOT be impressed by these google map tricks.

I had to go to North Richmond CA to pick up something, and I used my GPS to find the exact location. That is not an area where you want to get lost. I would not trust this triangulation method to get me out of there. I need EXACT directions not approximations. My $99 VX9900 can do it with ease. This method doesn't compare.

SumGuy

My phone wasn't jailbroken or anything, but when i tried to update it timed out or something and said that it couldn't restore my firmware (error 1201). Now it's in recovery mode, but when i try to restore it always times out at that point. (couldn't restore firmware error 1201). I don't know what to do, but I really need to get my phone up and running again. Any ideas?

jpm438

@deeboo626: I also face that problem on one of my machines. Something's gone wrong with that. I have a desktop (XP) and a laptop (Vista). I can properly sync my music on my desktop. But after I started facing the problem like yours when upgrading the firmware on my desktop, I always use my laptop for that purpose. You too can upgrade your iPhone from some other machine. The only problem would be that if that other machine is not authorized by you, you will need to once again copy all music and data afresh from your authorized machine. I hope this helps.

kaushalmodi

That's what I was referring to. Of course you have always been able to play music on the iPhone while connected to iTunes, but that was actually playing on the phone and going to the earbuds or out of the mini-speaker in the bottom of the phone.

This now allows you to play your music through the computer speakers when connected to iTunes. You could not do this prior to 1.1.3.

SockMonkey

Don't expect the iPhone to remind you for being a dumbass and turning the volume down. While it would be nice for some improvements (the speakerphone), the phone itself is pretty nice. I like how simple it is to conference call and switch between calls.

However, what I think would be awesome for the phone is if they took a hint from WM6 on the HTC Touch. It has a really sweet feature on the home screen where you tap people's picture to dial. Also, to keep people like you from complaining, they should use automatic rington profiles (so it puts it on vibrate when you have something in the calendar).

Would have been cool MMS or at least Copy/Paste, but to tell you the truth I would just like a game, a least one damn game (not on the web "2.0", but installed). The SDK can come fast enough, hopefully there will be at least one decent game and a decent app or two from the sea of crap that will flood in.

Also, some sort of Venturi type deal in the underguts of the software to speed the EDGE tube a bit.

NNTPgrip

No improvements to the PHONE functionality? Arg. How hard would it be to program an audible reminder that you have missed a call or have voicemail waiting? I can't tell you how many times I've gone hours without returning a call because I didn't realize I got one (partly because the volume is low and the vibrate is weak on the phone -- but I know that can't be fixed). And it would be nice to have a few non-childish ringtones so I don't turn bright red when I'm in a meeting and someone calls. Lots of other shortcomings could be easily fixed, like a vibrate-then-ring option, which is really the most useful mode for any phone. Why do they continually ignore the shortcomings of the PHONE features? I like the iPhone on balance, but I find that I can't recommend it to friends and family as a phone replacement because it is so far behind in terms of basic and important cellphone functions.

bandit

It's pretty slick. I like it. It will be great when third party apps are supported, but I don't see myself filling 9 pages of web links, I use my bookmarks for those.

I do like that you can slide the home screen over with your thumb and tap an icon on another page with your index finger while keeping your thumb on the screen and it will open, and when you hit the home button it goes back to the main screen and not the second home screen. Hard to explain, but try it and you'll see what I mean.

IKEACAR
