The Nazi party fought the Communist party of Germany in order to rise to prominence (esp. the Battle for Munich in 1919). Each side hated the other and considered themselves to be embodiments of diametrically opposed political ideals.

In the US, the right-wing has tried to re-brand fascism as socialism, and clearly it's convinced some people.

Of course you could say that seeing as this is not a scientific scale, left and right wing are arbitrary definitions, but in most of the world fascism is plotted on the extreme right of the scale and communism is on the extreme left.

It's true that large businesses that trend conservative to donate more, as well as prominent rich elites, but they 'donate' to tax shelters, not to actual charities that benefit the less fortunate.
